Happy holidays everybody! ROSE Foundation is ready to kick off 2024 by highlighting our three main focuses when you think about what recognition programs need to do: they need to emphasize value, appreciation, and recognition. While they’re similar concepts, they’re actually very different! Value is to show (whether it’s tangible or intangible) that somebody is important and their work matters, while appreciation is about giving that positive, consistent feedback. Recognition, on the other hand, rewards the deserved performance/achievement. Understanding these subtle differences can help create a more nuanced and successful recognition program and ultimately, build the morale of any team! Interested in learning more? Want to know one of the most powerful ways to affect the culture at work? 👇🏼 Make appreciation of others a normal part of what you do. • Pay attention to what others are doing and how they do it. • Notice the interesting ways they approach things, communicate ideas and contribute. • Take a moment to tell them something you noticed that you appreciate. • Let them know its helped you, made an impact, or simply that you're grateful to have a colleague like them. Paying attention and appreciating what makes each colleague unique, interesting and valuable builds capacity and resiliency in the organization.

The Power of Appreciation Feeling valued and appreciated is a powerful motivator, both in our personal lives and in the workplace. When we know our efforts are recognized, it boosts our confidence, strengthens our commitment, and inspires us to go the extra mile. Here's why appreciation matters: * Increased Motivation: Recognition fuels our intrinsic desire to do good work. When we feel appreciated, we're more likely to take on challenging tasks and strive for excellence. * Enhanced Engagement: Appreciation fosters a sense of connection with our colleagues and the organization. It makes us feel like we're part of something bigger and contributes to a more positive work environment. * Improved Performance: Appreciation reinforces positive behaviors and encourages us to continue putting in our best effort. It creates a cycle of success, where recognition leads to better performance, which is then further acknowledged. Let's cultivate a culture of appreciation at work and at home! A simple "thank you" or a public shout-out can make a world of difference. How will you help someone feel appreciated today? These ducklings really appreciate me topping up their spuddling water 😀

Recognition plays a crucial role in how we appreciate others, and it goes way beyond simply rewarding them with tangible items. Instead, it involves the transfer of a genuine feeling of appreciation, making the recipient feel truly special. The other day, my neighbour cooked delicious food for us. I enjoyed it so much that I thanked her immediately. She was busy, so I asked her son to pass on my gratitude. Later, she personally came out to inquire about it, despite knowing in advance from her son that I wanted to appreciate her for the food. In the context of the workplace, the importance of recognition becomes even more evident. Beyond the traditional association with monetary rewards, acknowledging employees for their contributions can foster a positive and motivating work environment. This not only acknowledges the individual's efforts but also reinforces a culture of recognition within the organization. Moreover, recognition in the office is not confined to grand gestures or elaborate ceremonies. Simple acts, such as publicly praising a colleague for a job well done, can create a ripple effect, boosting team morale and promoting a sense of camaraderie. That wow factor that hits someone's heart when they hear something good about their actions – that is the true game changer. #RecognitionMatters #AppreciationCulture #GameChangingFeedback #PositiveWorkplaceVibes #ImpactfulAcknowledgment

We often underestimate the tremendous impact that a few simple words of appreciation and recognition can have on individuals and teams. It's no secret that feeling valued and appreciated fuels motivation, engagement, and productivity. When we take the time to recognize someone's hard work, dedication, or achievements, we create a ripple effect of positivity that spreads throughout the entire organization. Aim to foster a culture of appreciation and recognition that will create an environment where gratitude and acknowledgment thrive, allowing everyone to reach their full potential: 1️⃣ Take the time to personally thank someone who has made a positive impact on your work or life. 2️⃣ Publicly acknowledge achievements and milestones, whether through team meetings, newsletters, or social media platforms. 3️⃣ Encourage a culture of peer-to-peer recognition, where colleagues celebrate each other's accomplishments. 4️⃣ Consider implementing formal recognition programs that reward outstanding performance and contributions. 5️⃣ Actively listen and provide constructive feedback to help individuals grow and develop professionally. 📢 So, here's a shout-out to all the amazing individuals who make a difference every day! Your dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence inspire us all. Thank you for your hard work and the positive impact you bring forward. #AppreciationMatters #RecognizeExcellence #GratitudeInAction #UpliftingEachOther

Organizations and leaders of people can do so many right and good things to make a work place a “good place to work”. But if we do not practice this one thing, it’s impossible to be a GREAT place to work! And it’s this…. Understanding and PRACTICING Appreciation. It’s important to know the difference between Appreciation and Recognition. Recognition is focused on a person’s achievements where Appreciation is an expression for their value as a person. It’s important that we take time to learn others language of appreciation… how do they best hear and receive being appreciated. Do you know your own appreciation language? What are ways that you have felt appreciated at work? We’d love to hear from you.
