I was recently reminded by the mathematician and computer scientist Felix Hovsepian, PhD of this discussion with Tim Scarfe. Short, yet, upon reflection, has the answer as to why speaking of AGI based on an “approximate search” paradigm is silly.

Walid Saba, I studied the work of Alan Turing, much like anyone else in Computer Science .. Then I started to read it from the perspective of a mathematical logician, and I could see the "beauty" in this man's work. The current batch of #dataDriven software, is basically just that, a form of sophisticated software - little more. On the other hand, Turing's 1952 paper on #morphogenesis is by far my favourite. "The Secret Life of Chaos with Jim Al-Khalili 4k", https://youtu.be/mEHbdrpy_Lg mostly studied by mathematicians & biologists.
