Green spaces are crucial in a big city like Atlanta. Our Atlanta staff recently volunteered with Tree Atlanta, a non-profit that aims to mitigate Atlanta’s tree loss, protect its forests and increase its tree canopy. They spent the day cleaning along a creek bed at Westside Park, a quarry park in the center of Atlanta.

In a special edition of this week's newsletter, LBC wants to shoutout new and unique stories from our material donors! Every year hundreds of organizations, individuals, partners and collaborators donate reusable items that LBC can then give back to our West End community - and this week is no different! We would like to send a shoutout to Atlanta Housing for donating a variety of antique cabinet sets that have been put to amazing use in our community. Through LBC's partnership in deconstructing facilities in East Lake Highrise, a senior living residence, we were able to salvage these materials which otherwise would have gone to landfills. For instance, two five-piece sets are in the process of being utilized by a client - who is a residential contractor in Atlanta's West End (30310) - to provide sustainable upgrades to affordable housing initiatives in West End neighborhoods. Without Atlanta Housing Authority's generosity and assistance, this would not have been possible. We've been working hard to support young people who have recently moved into new accommodations with little to no furniture. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we've been able to provide them with essential items like Sofa's . Our sofa supply is running low, and we want to make sure young people have a comfortable place to relax and unwind in their new homes. So, we're reaching out to our amazing community once again! If you have a used sofa that you'd be willing to donate, or if you know someone who does, please consider Bardsley Youth Project. Your support will make a huge difference in improving the lives of young individuals who are just starting out on their own. If you think you can help send us a Facebook message. We are legally required to ensure all sofas we give out have their fire labels intact. For each sofa we requested a photo showing the fire labels and the general condition of the sofa before collection. We ask that sofas have no major rips or tears. We extend a huge thank you to Assistance League of Atlanta, which has recently partnered with 3Keys to donate essential items for our residents. This partnership means that our residents—many of whom arrive with little to nothing more than the clothes they are wearing—will receive welcome kits with new bedding, shower shoes, pots and pans, laundry pods, towels, and much more. Assistance League of Atlanta is also assisting with our activities program by donating supplies that enable us to continue offering meaningful activities for our residents. Every year, winter coats, gloves, hats and more decorate our warming trees at our Monon/Francesville plants. Started by our very own plant clerk Kim Payne nearly a decade ago, we partner with fellow members of our local communities such as churches, schools and service organizations to help keep families safe and warm during the cold winter months.
