Remember that time #snoop gave up smoke?.... 😜 When I took this role at Solo Brands I knew there was something here. So off the #sneaker path, it left most people scratching their heads, myself included at times, thinking…what is this move Jenna? Hype sneakers, hip hop and community driven agenda……to smokeless fire pits, and a slew of #outdoor #lifestyle brands..? The bottom line, as this self proclaimed #retail spy (former retail #tech junkie over here) I felt it was my duty to round out my retail knowledge with a #DTC brand where I can get a peek behind the curtain on #productdevelopment, #manufacturing, #marketplace and the nuances of selling into #wholesale. As I went through the interview process which basically felt like getting hit with a bolt of lightening ⚡ I immediately saw that this company had something happening, an uncanny knack of being able to pivot, perform and deliver in a way that I’ve never seen before. When this opportunity to work with Snoop began to take shape it was the first time I got to witness the magic of this teams ability to execute. It was like watching a #formula1 pit crew. Everyone knew their role, everyone locked in their contribution in this chain of events, where if one fell down the entire process would fall apart. Under extreme pressure this team stepped up to deliver on a plan that few have an opportunity to execute against in their lifetime…oh and it required real-time evaluation and pivoting. The execution of this plan had so many outside variables…like the doggfather of smoke himself Snoop Dogg….oh and the world’s response to his amazing participation in this elaborate plan. The team was tight. Our outside resources were beacons of calm and confidence as we urged ourselves to “hold the line” watching the plan seep its way into the phones, feeds and minds of billions of people across the globe…if this is just the beginning with solo brands, I cannot wait to see what’s next next. In a conversation the other day we were talking about dogs and where we buy dog food. Someone made the comment “isn’t Amazon the same as Chewy?” Maybe in the way that they both ship dog food to your home - yes they are the same. But then you get something like this - a birthday card for my dogs - and you know the customer experience and love for pets at Chewy is at the utmost importance.
