Boston's answer to ChatGPT! Proud to be an investor in Liquid AI as a venture partner at BOLD Capital Partners. Congrats Ramin Hasani, Alexander Amini, Mathias Lechner and the AWESOME Director of MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) Daniela Rus on the launch of Liquid.ai 🥳 So why is this super exciting? 1. Liquid AI’s neural-network models (called Liquid Neural Networks or LNNs) are much simpler and require significantly less compute to train and operate than most models powering Generative AI today. This means you can build these models at a fraction of the cost AND the carbon footprint is much lower! #GreenAI 2. Because the models are smaller, it is possible to update it way more frequently and it could even possibly learn in real-time. The resulting model would always be up to date on the latest and also can be personalized. 3. Smaller models also means they can run on the edge versus the cloud, which is particularly useful in applications to drones, robotics, autonomous vehicles. Things are heating up in the race to beat/replace open ai/ChatGPT. The PR is still a bit too vague to say anything definitive, but the premise is a leaner more flexible neural network. Just looking at the people involved, it's got some heavy hitters (Daniela Rus, head of CSAIL no less) and with OSS Capital and Joseph Jacks I'm assuming there's an open source piece somewhere - exactly where and how much is TBD. It *sounds* interesting and looks like something worth following. I'll be very interested in seeing how they attack problems with bias. I think AI - sorry "Language Automation and Advanced Pattern Recognition" - will become an added feature in existing product spaces rather than a standalone product, so expect most or all of these companies to be looking for acquihires as exits. The model seems fairly simple: spin up, lap up VC funding in the gold rush, and get acquired for a bazillion in 1-3 years. At least, that's what I would be doing :D

Finally, ODEs are hitting the language model terrain. Dynamic differential equations that represent more plausible neural activity model, the fluidity in the flow of neurotransmitters propagation representing adaptibility and plasticity.
