Consumption matters! Consumption is very important when choosing an EV. The less electricity is used - the more you can ride with one charge and the less you pay for your trip. Currently the most efficient EVs consume around 14kWh for traveling 100 km, the “thirstiest” ones - close to 30kWh! Manufacturers strive to design the sleekest and most aerodynamic EVs to boast the best consumption figures. Meanwhile Bjørn Nyland, an EV reviewer from Norway, proved that efficiency numbers can improve if you simply attach a cargo box to an EV! He made several tests with VW ID.4 GTX and the results were surprising – the lowest consumption of the tested EV was when traveling with a cargo box attached to the towbar! The cab's aerodynamic shape, achieved by extending the front by 80 millimeters, reduces the cW value by nine percent compared to the Actros cab, contributing significantly to energy consumption reduction and extended range in long-haul electric truck operations.

Following the slump in vehicle sales owing to the pandemic, the subsequent supply chain issues and rising raw material costs, the European market for passenger car vehicles finally saw an expansion in 2023. But, it is not a uniform picture across the region and, given the EU’s challenging decarbonisation targets, the uptake of alternative power sources was lower than might have been expected.
