From the blog: "Cul-de-sacs, meandering peaceful roads, rows of houses, and the occasional shopping plaza–the suburbs are a peculiarly built space. Princeton is nestled among many evolving suburban neighborhoods. I often chat with my friends about growing up in the area and how easily one can feel landlocked. There are many magical places and embedded histories to experience in Princeton’s suburbs, though to uncover them is a matter of how you explore." #library #librarylife https://lnkd.in/e-PpTkqv

Radiating Hope: Juhi Consulting's Founder/Director Empowers End of Care Landscapes with Creativity and Transformation
🌿 Important Announcement Regarding Altona Memorial Park 🌿 Dear LinkedIn Community, I wanted to take a moment to address recent events concerning the theft of memorial plaques at Altona Memorial Park, managed by The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust. While we acknowledge the immediate concern surrounding these incidents, it's essential to recognise the broader implications at play. The removal of memorials from a cemetery or any landscape is a multifaceted issue with profound implications for our cultural, social, environmental, and political landscapes. From a human geography perspective, this removal touches upon various critical aspects: 🏛 Cultural Impact: Memorials serve as poignant symbols, reflecting the beliefs and values of those they commemorate. Their removal can disrupt the continuity of cultural narratives and historical significance. 🤝 Social Dynamics: Cemeteries are sacred spaces for communal remembrance and reflection. Alterations to the landscape can significantly impact social interactions and ignite tensions among diverse groups. 🌍 Environmental Concerns: It's important to consider the environmental footprint associated with memorial production, including resource extraction and the potential for habitat destruction, resource depletion and modern slavery. 💪 Power and Representation: Decisions surrounding memorialisation are inherently linked to power dynamics, often raising questions of equitable representation and social justice. As professionals, there's an opportunity for us to engage in deeper reflection and dialogue on these complex issues. Let's come together to explore themes of grief, loss, and memorialisation, while considering the diverse perspectives and stakeholders involved. Your understanding and support are deeply appreciated as we navigate these challenges together. #Memorialisation #CemeteryCulture #CulturalLandscape #SocialReflection #EnvironmentalAwareness #CommunityDialogue #GriefJourney #RememberingTogether #CemeteryManagement #HeritagePreservation Image Credit: Altona Park, The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust

SILVER LAKE LOS ANGELES GUIDE BELOW: https://lnkd.in/gWTPy8uR Welcome to the Los Angeles community of Silver Lake. Our neighborhood guide contains an intimate glimpse of the best art, shopping, nightlife, modern architecture, and the many architecturally significant and historical homes built by John Lautner, Richard Neutra, Edward A. Adams, Eric Lloyd Wright, Raphael Soriano, and Harwell Hamilton. Silver Lake is located northeast of downtown, in an area once known variously as Edendale and Ivanhoe, a beautiful landscape of hills and glens southwest of the Los Angeles River. Homes active on the market today range from $750,000 upwards to $ 4.395mil, while condominiums fall between $375,000 and $1.689mil. 296 homes have sold from December 1st of this year with average days on the market of 29 or 6 more than the previous year with an average price sold per sq/ft at $956.14 down from $1,032.55 the previous year. If you're thinking about buying a home in the Silver Lake market today you have more leverage than you did one year ago. The market is tremendously active in Silver Lake, with demand that is reflected in both neighborhood-sensitive and property-specific ways. Those homes that have architectural significance are one of the hottest tickets in town. Culturally, Silver Lake has always had a reputation for being home to artists, musicians, writers, and creative people, unique in its acceptance of a racially and ideologically diverse as well as politically progressive population. Harry Hay’s Mattachine Society and the Black Cat Bar, thought to be originating points of the gay rights movement in Los Angeles, were also located in the neighborhood. Some of the most celebrated and revered architects in the last century built their own personal residences in Silverlake, and the stars aren't just in this sky here with neighbors like Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine, Fred Armisen, Katy Perry, and many others from radio, television, and film. #shelhamergroup #shelhamerrealestategroup #silverlake #silverlakelosangeles #silverlakelosangelesrealestate #silverlakehomesforsale #silverlakelistingagent #silverlakesellingagent
