These include skilled nursing services, home health aides, and personal care. How can you qualify for home health care? ianacare co-founder Jessica Nam Kim shared in a recent Fortune article what needs to change for programs like #hospitalathome to reach their full potential and become the catalyst for effective home-based care models. Care is a team effort, and when home becomes the primary setting for critical and acute care, as in Hospital at Home, family members and other caregivers must be involved on day one. Jessica explains why below, and you can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e6jk2nji
Thanks to Fortune for publishing my Op-Ed to raise awareness of the critical missing piece of the hospital-at-home program… incorporating caregivers to ensure the last mile of patient care. What I wrote reflects the staggering reality of our care system AND my recent firsthand experience going through the hospital-at-home program as the caregiver for my dad with congestive heart failure. To be super clear, we NEED these programs like hospital-at-home to work. I'm a believer and advocate. However, it'll be impossible to reach its full potential without incorporating the family caregiver. Below, I share why and what we can do about it. The time is NOW to make this change in the system. The Hospital-at-Home program is the gateway to more care in the home programs. Let's not repeat what happens today in health systems where the last mile of care for the patient is unsupported. ianacare https://lnkd.in/dPqM4qQ7 #caregiversupport #digitalhealth #hospitalathome
I cared for my dad under ‘hospital at home’ in his final weeks. The program is missing one big piece
