We’re stronger together. 💪🩸 During #BloodAdvocacyWeek2024, Vitalant is joining forces with America's Blood Centers and more than 80 other organizations to champion policies that expand access to vital blood products for patients in need and ensure an ample supply for those who rely upon it. Today, the U.S. blood supply is facing challenges, from declines in the overall number of blood donors each year to the reduction of in school and business-based blood drives. You can help turn these trends around. This #BloodAdvocacyWeek, advocate for policies designed to help address these challenges and ensure blood products remain available for all patients in need. After gaining traction during the 117th Congress, the Safe Step Act (S.652/H.R.2630) has been reintroduced during the current 118th Congress. We need your support to get the Safe Step Act across the finish line. The bicameral and bipartisan Safe Step Act places limits on "step therapy", a process where patients are forced to try and fail on a lower-cost drug before they are allowed to access their originally prescribed drug. This bill would require group health plans to provide a timely response when patients with serious illness request an exemption to step therapy. To improve patient safety, and remove barriers to accessing life-saving treatment, ask your members of Congress to support this legislation today! https://lnkd.in/dFRWDyys

For non emergency services, wait times are organized in a triage system. The people who need it the most get it sooner. It is triage that allows everyone access to universal healthcare. Triage does not mean that you do not have access to medical care at any time. Home care is also offered to seniors and the disabled free of charge. A certain amount of long term care spaces at seniors homes are also funded fully or partly by universal health care. Most of these long term care facilities are run by charities, and funded by universal health care. A lot of them are quite nice and offer excellent care. #PrivateBloodTest #Privatevaccinations #MedicalServicesInUK

🌍🚭 Today, on World No Tobacco Day, we at the Early Career Pharmacists Group (ECPG) join the global community in raising awareness about the devastating impacts of tobacco on health and the environment. Every year, millions of lives are lost to diseases caused by smoking and other forms of tobacco consumption, including lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). But the toll of tobacco extends beyond the individual smoker. But there is hope! By choosing to quit smoking, you can begin to heal your body almost immediately. Within just 20 minutes, your heart rate drops. In 12 hours, carbon monoxide levels in your blood normalize. After one year, the risk of coronary heart disease is about half that of a smoker’s. Join us in the fight against tobacco. Share this post to spread the message. Let's make every day a World No Tobacco Day! 🚭💪 #WorldNoTobaccoDay #ECPG #TobaccoFree #QuitSmoking #HealthAwareness #SaveLives #FIP #FIPECPG Want to #explore the ECPG's #opportunities & #events for #Members? The American Red Cross is experiencing a national blood shortage. Donors of all blood types are urgently needed, and there is an emergency need for platelet donors and type O blood donors to make an appointment to give now to ensure patients across the country continue receiving critical medical care. Blood product distributions to hospitals are outpacing the number of blood donations coming in, and distributions of some of the most needed blood types to hospitals have been reduced in recent weeks. The Red Cross is working with hospitals around–the-clock to meet the blood needs of patients – but can’t do it alone. Don’t wait. People across the country depend on the generosity of blood donors. Make an appointment to give blood or platelets now by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

As we navigate a world constantly challenged by health crises, the significance of blood donation has never been more paramount. Every pint of blood has the potential to save up to three lives, making blood donation one of the most impactful acts of kindness we can offer. But the journey doesn't end at donation. Ensuring the safety and efficacy of blood transfusions is crucial, which is where rigorous screening for infectious diseases plays a vital role. With advanced diagnostic technologies, we can effectively screen blood for pathogens, significantly reducing the risk of transfusion-transmissible infections. This not only safeguards the recipients but also bolsters the integrity of our healthcare system. Let's acknowledge and appreciate the unsung heroes who donate blood and the cutting-edge science that ensures its safe transfusion. Your contribution, whether as a donor or as a part of the medical community, is invaluable in saving lives and fostering a healthier society. http://spkl.io/60454sILU
