"Attending India Today's Women's Summit was a transformative experience, immersing myself in an environment of empowerment and wisdom. Engaging in profound discussions led by luminaries like Aruna Sairam, Nigar Shaji, Suchitra Ella, and Dr. Urjitha Rajagopalan expanded my perspective on women's roles in leadership and societal change. Aruna Sairam's reflections on the power of cultural influence in leadership, Nigar Shaji's advocacy for inclusivity and diversity, Suchitra Ella's journey in the biotech industry, and Dr. Urjitha Rajagopalan's insights into healthcare innovations collectively painted a vivid canvas of inspiration. The summit illuminated the intricate facets of women's empowerment, highlighting the importance of breaking societal norms and fostering an environment that embraces diverse experience and eager to apply these learnings on my journey of personal and professional growth. 💪🌐 Thanking my college KCG College of Technology and my department HOD Dr. Vandhana Devi V for providing me with this wonderful opportunity #WomenEmpowerment #LeadershipJourney #IndiaTodaySummit"

The Theme for International Women's Day 2024 is "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress #IWD2024 1 out of every 5 board members in Indian companies is a woman. 10 years ago, this number was 1 in 20. The Companies Act, 2013 mandates every listed company in India fulfilling certain conditions to have at least 1 woman director appointed on their board. While ~45% of the Nifty-500 companies have just 1 woman director to comply with the law, there are a few companies like Zomato and Apollo hospitals where women constitute more than 50% of the members of the board of directors. 57% of the directors on Zomato’s board consist of women, while 55% on Hindustan Zinc and Cummins India, 54% on Apollo Hospitals, and 50% on Nestle India are the leading companies with the highest number of women on their board. Traditionally led by men, women bring a fresh perspective to any company’s board and positively impact an organisation’s performance. Gender-balanced boardrooms are 20% more likely to improve business outcomes. With time, women's participation in boardrooms goes up and so does an organisation’s impact on its own business and society in general. #GenderDiversity #WomenInLeadership #BoardroomEquality #WomenEmpowerment #DiverseLeadership #CorporateResponsibility #WomenOnBoards #KeepPerseveringKeepInspiring #KeepLearningKeepInspiring #KeepThrivingKeepInspiring #BeingHumanelyResourceful #HumanResourcesThoughtLeader #IndependentWomanDirector #AnyutaDhir

Background: India is in the era of being future ready. Is the motherland woman-ready? Is the next generation all set for India’s global strategic positioning? India is undeniably in the era of becoming future ready, with advancements in technology, infrastructure, and economic growth. However, it is crucial to address whether the motherland is woman-ready and whether the next generation is prepared for India's global strategic positioning. While significant progress has been made in terms of women's empowerment, there are still persistent challenges such as gender inequality, discrimination, and limited access to education and opportunities. To ensure that India is truly future ready, it is imperative to prioritize the empowerment and inclusion of women, providing them with equal opportunities, rights, and support. Additionally, the next generation must be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to effectively contribute to India's strategic positioning on the global stage. By addressing some of these critical aspects, India can build a society that is both future ready and woman-ready, where the next generation plays a pivotal role in India's global strategic positioning.
