The U.S. Supreme Court's decision to limit federal regulatory authority through the recent Chevron ruling threatens essential protections we have for #publichealth, the environment and beyond. It shifts power from experts at federal agencies, leaving courts to decide how regulations are enforced and opening them up to legal challenges. The rules that protect our health care, the environment, our water supply and food systems should be decided on and implemented by experts at these agencies, not lawyers and judges. It will paralyze potential for progress on stronger health systems, climate change, cleaner air and water, and more. The decision by the current court majority reverses decades of progress in favor of corporate interests. Read more about the ruling from The New York Times https://lnkd.in/dFSQtYtg Photo: Air pollution over Los Angeles. The Chevron ruling could gut regulations set out under the 1970 Clean Air Act.
