Tomorrow we're organizing our next Visual Contracts' Monthly Meetup again on 26th March from 12:00-13:00 CET. This month's topic is around the Innovation Toolbox: how to manage innovation and IP from a legal design perspective. Since no one flies solo these days, collaboration and co-innovation is essential for success. But many of you know how long it can take to sign even a simple confidentiality agreement or as a follow-up, a collaboration contract. Too often the focus is on legal details, standardized perfectionism and completeness that do not take into account your context with respect to the next business model, a short time to market, negotiating IP fairly and with business sense and making the joint business proposition a success. Mirjam Ros and Lieke are convinced this can and should be changed for the good by designing, co-creating and implementing an Innovation Toolbox. Such a toolbox could enhance innovation speed to get your sustainable solutions asap on the market and with contracts much simpler, easier to understand which will lead to shorter throughput times and better results. Mirjam Ros is a business strategist who believes in simplifying the complex and in making ‘common sense more common’. She is driven by a people and user-centric approach to Innovation, Collaboration & Intellectual Property, Commercial Contracting, Business Strategy and Organizational Development. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Law and a Master’s degree in Public Administration & Policy, and has twenty five years of experience in the aerospace, oil & gas industries and in R&D. In 2019, she wrote the Innovation Matrix co-authored with Deepika Jeyakodi (https://lnkd.in/e8Ehf5mz). She works as an independent innovation & strategy consultant and coach and her customers work at start and scale-ups, SME’s, corporates, accelerators and universities, institutes and governmental organisations. 👀 Conway's Law simply states: "A system designed by an organization will mirror the organization's own communication structure." In other words, the way a company communicates internally will shape the systems it creates. 👉 To surpass the limitations of Conway's Law, a strategic approach is essential. ⭐ Start by improving communication across different teams, fostering an environment where information flows freely, aiding in the creation of more integrated systems. ⭐ Forming cross-functional teams can also help break down departmental silos, leading to cohesive and well-integrated system designs. ⭐ Adopting agile methodologies is key, as they encourage flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability within the organizational structure. 💡 By implementing these strategies, we can effectively leverage Conway's Law to our advantage, aligning our internal structure with the system design objectives. #corporateculture #conway #teamdynamics #crossfunctionalteams

Got an interesting question today regarding Conway's Law, and my views on how it shapes our digital World 🌐 First off, everyone know this Law? Nah, really? No worries, let me break it down 😎 Conway's Law states that "organizations, who design systems, are constrained to produce designs which are copies of the communication structures of these organizations." In simpler terms, the way a team communicates and collaborates will ultimately shape the design and outcome of the systems and projects they create. I believe this is more and more important these days especially in the tech industry when building high-performing teams and sites, because: 1️⃣ **Mirror, Mirror on the Wall**: Conway's Law highlights the importance of organizational structure and communication in software development. A well-organized team with effective communication can create more efficient and user-friendly systems. It's like a digital reflection of the team's inner workings! 🪞 2️⃣ **Designing for Collaboration**: By understanding and embracing Conway's Law, companies can design their teams and communication structures to foster innovation and collaboration. This can lead to better software designs and more successful projects. Who knew communication could be so powerful? 💬 3️⃣ **The Future is Now**: As technology continues to evolve, the importance of Conway's Law in shaping our digital world will only grow. It's crucial for organizations to adapt and optimize their communication structures to stay ahead of the curve. After all, the future is now, and we need to be ready for it! 🚀 Conway's Law is really a powerful tool, and for anyone thinking about team topologies, understand this law, and you are well on your way to building epic teams! 🤩 #ConwaysLaw #Technology #Innovation #Collaboration #SoftwareEngineering #SoftwareDevelopment

Conway's Law is like a mirror reflecting how we structure our teams and how it influences the systems we build. If you have a monolithic team structure, chances are you're going to end up with a monolithic application. 🔍 Why should this matter to you? If you're noticing inefficiencies, silos, or a lack of innovation, it might be time to ask: Are we actually shipping our org chart? Here's how you can use Conway's Law to your advantage: 1. Assess Your Structure: Look at your current team and communication flows. Are they aligned with the kind of products you want to build? 2. Encourage Cross-Functional Collaboration: Break down silos by promoting collaboration across different areas of expertise. This can lead to more modular and adaptable systems. 3. Reflect and Iterate: Continuously reflect on your organizational structure and make adjustments that not only improve workflow but also the quality and adaptability of your product. 🚀 Takeaway: Map out your current org chart against your product architecture. Notice any similarities? It might be time to innovate not just in your product but in your team structure as well. Conway's Law is a practical tool to diagnose and improve how we create. Are you letting it work for you or against you? #ConwaysLaw #TeamStructure #SoftwareDevelopment #Innovation
