Cheese Toast is tasty and beloved by people all over the world, which is why it has its own special day, National Cheese Toast Day, celebrated on September 15th. Not to be confused with grilled cheese, Cheese Toast was created in 1958 by Del Johnson when he opened his first Sizzler’s restaurant. Sizzler’s cheese toast was originally made with egg bread with parmesan cheese on top and then eventually switched to a French bread with a margarine base. If you don’t live on the West Coast of the United States, you can celebrate the day by making your own cheese toast at home (butter some bread, slap a piece of cheese on it and toast it in the oven (400˚) for 10 minutes.
