Empowering education through expertise! 🎓 Prof Naglaa Shehab, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and Prof Kishore, Head of Pharmacy Practice Department, contributed as poster presenters at the 7th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop. Organized by CAA, AACP, GMU, and ACPE, the workshop focused on best practices for assessment in Pharmacy Education. Their impactful presentation titled 'Dubai Pharmacy College Strategies for Advancement of Curriculum Assessment Modalities: Transition from Program Learning Outcome Assessment to Competency-Based Assessment Model' highlighted innovative approaches. 🌟 #PharmacyEducation #AssessmentExcellence #EducationalInnovation"

As we ask to get paid as other medical providers, it takes a diff mindset. It doesn’t matter what a great job we do for the patients and how satisfied it make us feel, we have to get comfortable of what we cost and the only way anyone can afford to pay us is to have billed encounters to not only cover our costs as providers but also the costs of the unseen overhead that many have no clue. The fellowship is built around preparing these new practitioners to develop that mindset as they already have the clinical basis! Not many succeed in this space and we have had our fair share of failures and huge financial loses navigating this space but the knowledge and strategies the team has gained over the years is what you now get when they over see your fellow and get them to help your practice minimize the start up or scaling loses.

I am absolutely mortified at what the UKFPO are installing… To be implemented from 2025, changes to the Specialised Foundation Programme (colloquially denoted as the “Academic Foundation Programme” or “AFP”) are coming into play, with the UKFPO announcing yesterday that the Preference Information Allocation (PIA) system - pretty much a “Random Number Generator” in my opinion - will be employed when selecting for SFP / AFP posts. I am absolutely outraged by this - medical students who have painstakingly strived to achieve high exam rankings within their studies, have spent many, many countless hours pursuing clinical and surgical academia through peer-reviewed publications, have exhausted a scarcity of funding for attending and presenting at national/international conferences, and have endeavoured to win highly-esteemed accolades as prizes alongside leadership roles, have now been LET DOWN. All our efforts gone to waste. This is UNFAIR. The system should be based on MERITOCRACY, not PREFERENCE as how can we properly determine a student’s aptitude for an academic career in medicine without taking into account the above considerations? I am just flabbergasted. I have aspiring SFP doctors who have contacted me personally to express their disbelief - feeling as if their pursuits for academic excellence have not been evaluated and considered. Proud of National University Health System and the entire #community of people that made #health a possibility for all! Our sister Singapore General Hospital is #4. All India Institute of Medical Sciences is #3. Singapore and India are the only 2 Asian countries in the top 10 which is dominated by USA. Approximately only 10% of our health is determined by the quality of healthcare. A healthcare system that (a) partners closely with various other sectors to address the #social, #behavioural, and #environmental determinants of health (60%) and (b) is able to harness the power of genetics (30%), can then truly be #transformational to health of the population. Singapore’s recognition as a #bluezone is probably a good indication of how the #complexsystems that produces health has been working pretty well. For instance, the Housing & Development Board housing story is a shining example of how the quality of housing is correlated with the quality of health: https://lnkd.in/gKgkJqsc. No coincidence! As is commonly said, don’t rest on your laurels. We at National University Health System still have lots to improve on. That’s why we even bother to have a “Transformation Office” and all the more we need to work together (no silos, only collaborations) for the health of our people. Onwards and upwards!

Excited to share that I recently completed Northeastern University's "Intro to Strategic Management for Healthcare Organizations"!  This course provided a solid foundation in key concepts, and attending the KSUMC Corporate Nursing Affairs workshop on "Clinical Implications of Strategic Planning" felt like the cherry on top! This immersive program dove into real-world application, particularly the conceptual frameworks in healthcare, and balanced scorecard (shoutout to Abdulrahman Alkhlaif,MPH, MPA, SPP, SMP, SMPS, BSCP, IFCE® & Yousef Alshamlani's brilliant explanation!), solidifying my understanding. Feeling equipped to contribute effectively to organizational success and eager to continue learning.
