A lot of people echo the sentiment 'new year, new job, new me' around this time of year.
If that's you, GREAT!
But brace yourself.
Because the landscape is RAPIDLY evolving.
And your next interview might just be with an algorithm, and not a person.
In our tech-driven era, Stephen Hawking's words ring clear - "The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race."
I don't believe it to be all doom and gloom, even though I see many people argue that it is 'impossible' for an algorithm to evaluate one's suitability to a job.
Don't shoot the messenger, but I am here to tell you that it is already happening.
"Why?"
Well, because not only is AI a lot more precise at assessing a candidate's suitability for a job, but it also eliminates much of the human bias that filters through in a human-to-human interview.
AI interviews often use natural language processing to understand responses and job candidates may face questions presented on a screen, or recorded prompts which will allow for responses via video or text.
Here is where it gets interesting - the algorithm is designed to analyze language, facial expressions, and even tone to assess communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and cultural fit.
Imagine not having to worry about securing the earliest possible interview time because your 'interviewer' is a machine - incapable of feeling exhausted, irate, or in a hurry to get home at the end of the day.
To be clear, it's not all rainbows and unicorns.
Not yet at least.
The key to acing interviews with AI systems is simple.

Interesting debate! While AI can make interviews smoother and fairer, it seems not everyone trusts it yet. Vishal Persaud
