I recently had the honor of delivering a session at the Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur where I was invited to share my experiences in working on optimization and its implementation in Supply Chain Reflecting on my journey, I remember securing admission into Industrial Engineering roughly 22 years ago. At that time, someone questioned my choice, challenging me to reconsider. To impress, I said I was passionate about Operations Research and eager to explore it further. The response I received was disheartening—he claimed it was highly theoretical with limited practical applications. Fast forward 22 years, and I found myself invited to speak about my hands-on experiences in implementing optimization in the Supply Chain. This moment was special to me, highlighting the journey from theoretical concepts to real-world applications. Crafting a case for optimization is, in itself, an optimization problem. The session at Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur was truly engaging, providing a wonderful opportunity to revisit the theory and practice of optimization. I am sincerely grateful to Professor Saumyaranjan Sahoo for the opportunity to share my views. It was truly an honor and a memorable experience.
Many congratulations Vishal. It's your relentless hard work and williness to learn that sets you apart. Always a pleasure interacting with you either for work or non-work.
Awesome work Vishal, you are an inspiration to many!!
