Friday☀️ wake-up call for creative talents in our biz. 💻 AI prompt: "What can't AI do that human creative artists can?" 💡Response: 💫 Originality and Innovation: Human artists can create entirely new styles, genres, and concepts, pushing the boundaries of creativity in ways that AI, which relies on existing data and patterns, struggles to match. True innovation often comes from breaking rules and thinking outside the box, something AI is not inherently equipped to do. 💜 Emotional Depth and Nuance: Human creativity is deeply intertwined with personal experiences, emotions, and cultural contexts. This allows human artists to infuse their work with emotional depth and subtlety that resonates on a personal level with audiences. AI can mimic emotions but lacks genuine understanding and the ability to experience emotions. 📝 Intentional Imperfection: Human artists often use imperfections intentionally to add character and uniqueness to their work. AI-generated content tends to aim for technical perfection, sometimes missing the charm and authenticity that imperfections can provide. 🧠 Contextual Understanding: Humans have a broad understanding of cultural, historical, and social contexts, enabling them to create art that reflects and critiques society in a meaningful way. AI can incorporate data about contexts but doesn't understand them on a fundamental level. 🧐 Ethical and Philosophical Insight: Human artists can explore and express complex ethical and philosophical issues through their art. They can engage in reflective and critical thinking that provokes thought and discussion, something that AI currently cannot do at the same depth. 🙏 Personal Expression: Each human artist has a unique perspective and voice shaped by their individual experiences, beliefs, and personalities. This personal expression results in art that is deeply personal and distinct. AI can emulate styles but lacks a personal perspective or identity. 💥Interactive Creativity: Human artists often engage in collaborative and interactive creative processes, drawing inspiration from interactions with others and responding to real-time feedback. This dynamic and adaptive creativity is challenging for AI, which typically operates within predefined parameters. 📗Narrative and Storytelling: While AI can generate stories, human storytellers excel in crafting complex, layered narratives with intricate character development and thematic depth. Humans understand the subtleties of pacing, tone, and dramatic tension in ways that AI struggles to replicate fully. ⁉️Symbolism and Metaphor: Human artists use symbolism and metaphor to convey deeper meanings and abstract concepts. This ability to imbue art with multiple layers of meaning, often drawing on a wide range of cultural references, is an area where AI is still quite limited. p.s. One of the very best TED talks (in my subjective opinion of course), is by the charismatic and magnificent design legend that is Philippe Stark. A master class in spontaneity and storytelling, seeping with inspiration, Philippe talks about the problem with us, mankind in looking down upon our ancestral evolution from 'stupid bacteria' with the attitude that we are the final product. We are complete, or 'I am the final man' as he puts it. We have stopped evolving. And how wrong we are. We have so much further of unknown quantities and qualities to go. I can't help thinking about this when we think about AI, or in how we can best use AI. We're at that early stage where we have the technical capability, and we are finding many, many great ways to make great gains, but we are a long way from hitting the peak on the curve, if ever, of optimal AI use. I wonder, with this context along with the foolishness of thinking we are fully evolved to perfection, we as a society, as humans, limit ourselves in seeing the full potential for an AI future. We of course cannot predict how our future will evolve with AI, but we can and indeed must accept that we are still on an evolutionary journey and what an interesting development (rapidly so) AI has been. And when we open ourselves to possibilities, we create opportunities to design. To design better, to design our future, to design for our planet, to design for humanity. Let's raise our angle of view. https://lnkd.in/gb9ZDfmp ❓ What do you think? #ai #artificialintelligence #evolution #humanity #design #PhilippeStark #whydesign ____________ ✌ I'm Scott Parker, a Design Leader and I make a lot of noise about the value of design. A friend who was in New York recently told me about an exhibition at the Whitney Museum spotlighting Harold Cohen's series of AI art known as "AARON". What struck me was that these were first conceived in the early 1970s - half a century before the whole AI craze kicked off. Cohen designed AARON to make decisions on colouring and composition to generate new and different pieces of art each time. Slowly, it was able to go from drawing simple lines and shapes, to human figures and landscapes. What he created was no DALL-E or Midjourney, but a program that replicates the process of thought. In doing so, he questions what exactly art is and where its value lies - is it the output, the program, or Cohen himself? This made me think about our current predicament. As sophisticated and widespread as AI becomes, we can't neglect the original purpose of AI, which is to enable us humans to create more value. https://lnkd.in/e7GZS_E4 #AI #Automation #GenAI #Art
