🎨 Catching the exhibit “MiroMatisse: Beyond Images” at Museo Matisse Nice 🇫🇷 last weekend left me inspired.
In the 1930s, after achieving much success, Henri Matisse fell into a "pictorial crisis" (ie. artist's version of writers block).
Already in his 60s, Matisse drew inspiration from a much younger, 24 years to be exact, Spanish artist Joan Miro 🇪🇸
Despite a generational gap and belonging to a completely different artistic “camp”, Matisse’s admiration of Miro's work helped guide him towards a new direction of abstract art to create his next series of 🖼️
As I left the exhibit… 💭
- Curiosity is the seed 🌱 of inspiration

- Reinvention can happen at any age 🤩
During my travels, I immerse myself in art exhibitions, like my recent visit to the Picasso Museum in Paris. His portraits affirm that each face is a window to the soul. As a leadership coach, Picasso's question, "Should one paint what is on a face? What is in a face? Or what hides behind a face?" resonates deeply.
This query encapsulates the complexity of understanding others. Through facial expressions, we decode emotions and motivations. The face serves as a map, guiding us towards authentic transformation. By exploring the surface, interior, and what lies behind, we uncover hidden truths. This holistic approach reveals the soul's reflection in each face, inviting us to embrace growth and empathy. Picasso's quote reminds us that every face tells a unique story, urging us to listen and understand with empathy.
It’s slight challenge to run 1min content to really explain how to recognize great art (especially contemporary art).
Takes years to train the eye, visit exhibition, engage in conversation but also, it requires a study time. This is why I believe, art advisor must be educated in art history topics, not only how to see but how to think.
To see what is great today, let’s dive into past and look at what survived through the test of time.
Some art requires your body to move 180 or 360.
Some art requires you to already carry certain life experiences so you can associate.
And some, requires no opinion, knowledge or discussion but pure admiration. True beauty asks for no attention, just is, essentially, you will know when you comes across something truly beautiful. Trust your intuition. 😉

🖼️ ART IS A FORM OF POSSESSION THAT GOES BEYOND
In my work as an art consultant I have the privilege of assisting people, accompanying them in the discovery of extraordinary works.
🔍BUT WHAT IS HIDING BEHIND THE PASSION OF ART COLLECTORS?
The weaknesses, desires and curiosities that drive them to always look for new works to add to their collections, I believe it is these eccentricities that make the art world so fascinating and varied.
💡 This passion is found not only in those who buy art but also in those who create it, do you want some examples?
👨🎨 Leonardo da Vinci, the genius of the Renaissance, was not only one of the greatest artists, but also a passionate collector. His curiosity pushed him to acquire and study works of art by other masters.
🌟 Pablo Picasso, one of the most famous painters of the 20th century. In addition to his artistic production, Picasso loved collecting works by other contemporary artists, creating a dialogue between different artistic expressions.
🗝️ These are just two examples, but there are many other great men who have transformed their passion for art into a precious collection.
✨ So, if you are fascinated by beauty and want to own a piece of artistic history, dedicate yourself to discovering unique works!
You will see that the world of art will make your life even more extraordinary.

The Transformative Power of Art: Marina Abramović at the Royal Academy
I immersed myself in Marina Abramović's retrospective at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, a milestone for female artists. Spanning five decades, this exhibition offered more than art; it was a deep exploration of human strength and connection.
Abramović's art was presented through photographs, sculptures, videos, and live performances. Her work, especially in testing physical and mental endurance, invites us into a shared experience, exploring the depths of human interaction.
For example, her performances, particularly "Rhythm 0" from 1974, showcased a confrontation with physical and emotional boundaries. Here, Abramović stood for six hours, allowing the audience to use objects on her. The initially passive audience escalated to violence, marking her body and psyche with scars.
This raised a thought-provoking question: How would an audience interact with her art across different cultural, temporal and societal contexts? The context plays a pivotal role in shaping our engagement with art and often reveals truths society isn't ready to confront.
At the RA, Abramović's work revealed an audience with reverence in their interaction. It suggests that we have evolved in our understanding and engagement with art that challenges our comfort zones, indicating a more profound acknowledgement of the sacredness of the artist's vulnerability.
Art has the remarkable power to shape our individual and collective perceptions and attitudes. It can challenge us to confront our limits and explore what it means to be human in our evolving world.
Art touches our souls and provokes deep thoughts about ourselves, each other, and society. It stands as a guiding light through the complexities of our times and reminds us of art's transformative power in our lives.
