🌟 Industry Thoughts 🌟 The critical nursing shortage in the US is an ongoing challenge, but one solution that stands out is foreign recruitment, specifically from Canada. Here’s why bringing Canadian Registered Nurses (RNs) to the US can be a game-changer: 1. High-Quality Education and Training: Canadian RNs receive rigorous education and training, ensuring they are well-prepared to provide top-notch patient care. Their qualifications often meet or exceed US standards. 2. Cultural and Linguistic Alignment: Canada’s cultural and linguistic similarities with the US make the transition smoother for Canadian nurses. This leads to better communication and integration within US healthcare teams. 3. Same NCLEX Licensure: Both the US and Canada utilize the NCLEX licensure exam, ensuring that Canadian RNs meet the same licensing standards as their US counterparts, facilitating easier integration into US healthcare settings. 4. Immediate Impact on Staffing: By recruiting Canadian RNs, US hospitals can quickly address staffing shortages, ensuring that patient care remains consistent and high-quality. 5. Cost-Effective Solution: The cost of recruiting and training new graduates can be high. Experienced Canadian RNs bring valuable skills and experience, reducing the need for extensive training and orientation. 6. Diverse Perspectives: Canadian RNs bring unique perspectives and experiences that can enhance the quality of care and foster innovation within healthcare teams. At NurseMatch, we’re committed to bridging this gap by connecting talented Canadian RNs with US hospitals in need. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient healthcare system. #IndustryThoughtsThursday #Healthcare #NurseRecruitment #NursingShortage #USHealthcare #CanadianNurses #GlobalTalent #HealthcareInnovation

Accidental Foreign Nurse Lifeguard - 1 saved life at a time | 18 yrs Travel nurse | Mentor WORK SMART NOT HARD | Investor | Philanthropist | Mixologist | Drone Pilot | enjoying life at its best
When I heard about the New York City hospital nurse strikes in the news, my mind was in chaos. My heart belongs to this nursing profession. I support these nurses’ demands. 17 years as a traveler and have never crossed that picket line. When the nurses won the deal months ago, I was happy but worried at the same time. “Worried about what?” you may ask. My worry exactly happened last week. The hospital system used their other “CARD”—- Hire internationally. Hire foreign nurses. Not DIRECT HIRE. Instead, they hired through agency (leasing model) under contract for 3 years, lowest wage, poor benefits and they wont be part of this “union” and new contract with good benefits. Didn’t we just petitioned the government for foreign nurses to come because “hospitals have no more money for STAFFING companies?” I don’t believe this NYC facility has a shortage of applicants. Everyone wants to go there when I was in NYC. The economics of nursing mobility has always been a movement towards better paying location too. I’m an immigrant nurse myself and Im happy for the opportunity that the US has given us all and will give future American Dreamer nurses. But I dont agree on induced nurse “SHORTAGE” at the expense of the local nurses’ jobs. This is very unethical and foul in my opinion to the local nurses there. Are we using the immigration system for the right reason of real nursing shortage? Or are we using this to get away from FAIR LABOR rights, wages and benefits? #justSayIt #RealProblemsNeedRealSolution #beReal U.S. Department of Labor

I´m biased but I strongly believe that the recruitment of European nurses to the UK is of paramount importance to the country, addressing critical factors such as staffing shortages and the enhancement of patient care. The country has historically recruited from Europe, and European nurses bring diverse skills, expertise, and a wealth of experience that can contribute significantly to the healthcare system's quality and efficiency. Beyond addressing staffing needs, the recruitment of European nurses also plays a crucial role in reflecting the global population within the UK. The country boasts a diverse and multicultural society and healthcare providers strive to offer culturally competent care. European nurses, with their varied cultural backgrounds, can enhance communication and understanding between healthcare professionals and patients. This is particularly relevant given the presence of a substantial number of European residents in the UK. The diversity brought by European nurses fosters a more inclusive and patient-centered approach to healthcare. Language proficiency is a notable benefit, as many European nurses are required to be proficient in English and other languages, facilitating improved communication with patients who may not be fluent in English. Moreover, the global perspective that European nurses bring contributes to the exchange of ideas, practices, and approaches to patient care. This diversity enriches the overall quality of healthcare services and promotes continuous improvement and learning within the healthcare system. Recruiting European nurses also has economic and community integration benefits. These nurses contribute to the economy through taxes and spending, and those who are already living in the UK play a vital role in community integration. They understand the unique healthcare needs and cultural nuances of the European community in the UK, contributing to more effective healthcare delivery. From our experience, recruiting from Europe is also faster and less expensive as registration with NMC and visa processes are also easier for these nurses. In conclusion, the recruitment of European nurses in the UK is a multifaceted strategy that not only addresses immediate staffing needs but also contributes to building a culturally competent, globally reflective, and resilient healthcare system. Our company has recruited a number of nurses from Europe into the UK with great success. If you are a healthcare provider in the UK and interested in this possibility please feel free to get in touch to learn further on how Vitae Professionals can assist you with this. The increasing international mobility of nurses has led to a global competition for nurses among developed countries. Asian internationally educated nurses (IENs) are a critical human resource highly sought after within the global healthcare workforce. In our review, we uncovered several factors underlying the retention of Asian IENs in host countries. Providing permanent residency in host countries, ensuring transparency in credentialing assessment, providing equal opportunities for career advancement, instituting induction programs for newly employed Asian IENs, enabling families to be with them and building workplace social support are some of the retention strategies identified. This, in turn, will help us to ensure a sustainable nursing workforce. #NursingWorkforce #NursingRetention #NUSNursing Take a look at my article! https://lnkd.in/gkkBk8j3
