Will your extended family be getting together tomorrow for Thanksgiving dinner? If a senior family member will be part of the festivities, you may want to share with other family members any significant changes that have happened to your senior family member since they saw them last. You may want to send a current picture or share any weight loss or gain, use of a wheelchair/walker, wearing disposable briefs or issues with incontinence, or the inability to do certain things by themselves. By sharing these things ahead of time, there are less awkward moments during the day and your senior family member will be less self-conscious. We hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving! #oasiscares #oasissenioradvisors #seniorcare #seniorresources #seniorliving #seniorhousing #seniorcommunity #thanksgiving #thanksgiving2023

#Hygge is the sense of well-being we enjoy at Christmas and long for throughout the year. It's that warm, cozy feeling you get when you share time with good friends around a crackling fire. But once the decorations have been packed away, how do we preserve the warmth of the holidays. Before you make those #NewYears resolutions, take a few minutes to read my latest article for the good folks at The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation and Culture about holding on to the holiday hygge. https://lnkd.in/eBW3fQpi

Independence Day is a time for celebration, filled with the sizzle of hot dogs on the grill, laughter of family and friends, and the sparkle of fireworks lighting up the night sky. But it can be challenging if you're in recovery. Here are some tips to help you enjoy a sober celebration: 🔹 Plan Ahead: Know where you're going and what to expect. A bit of preparation can go a long way in helping you feel secure and comfortable. 🔹 Bring a Sober Buddy: Support each other in staying alcohol-free. Sharing the festivities with someone who understands your journey makes it easier to stay on track. 🔹 Have a Non-Alcoholic Drink in Hand: This helps you blend in and avoid questions. Whether it's a refreshing iced tea or a fizzy soda, keeping a drink in hand can help you feel more at ease. 🔹 Know Your Triggers: Avoid situations that may tempt you. Be mindful of your environment and steer clear of settings that might challenge your sobriety. 🔹 Have an Exit Strategy: If things get uncomfortable, leave. It's perfectly okay to step away if you need to protect your recovery. Celebrate your freedom and your journey to recovery with confidence and joy! Have more tips? Share them below to support each other ⬇️ #Recovery #AddictionTreatment #Sobriety #BreakTheStigma #RecoveryIsPossible
