With our $61.500 USD (430.000 DKK) investment We will not hire anyone. Here is how we will use it: Monthly costs Salaries Marius - 2200 USD (15.000 DKK) Villads - 2200 USD (15.000 DKK) Software licenses Total - 1100 USD (7.500 DKK) Food (dinner for the long evenings) Total - 1000 USD (7.500 DKK) Office 2 desks - 600 USD (4.000 DKK) Other - 1000 USD (7.000 DKK) Monthly income: Recurring revenue - 3250 USD (23.000 DKK) In short, we’ve been able to build a product from 0 to 1 and get to 3250 MRR without funding I think every founder would agree that it was way harder to get from 0 to 3250 MRR than to go from 3250 MRR to 10.000 MRR When we hit that we will be profitable Which means that we can grow faster The key insight that Sebastian Seilund and Esben Friis-Jensen taught us In our situation, money does not guarantee that we grow faster, it can easily be a distraction So we will continue to do everything ourselves Keep executing 🦄 #investment #unicorn #StartUp #founder
You’ve touched the entrepreneurial nerve - salary in early stage. 😆 Some say that hungry entrepreneurs are more successful, some say that salary helps entrepreneurs to feel confident. I haven’t made up my mind up yet about that.
That's our approach to bootstrapping as well. You've come far already. Once you hit ~$10k you can survive and what's to keep you from getting to $20k, $30k, $40k? Now it'll be about balancing retention and delivering value while pushing forward with sales and acquisition. Wishing you much success!
Det er super Villads 😊
Love it!! You guys are incredible!! Sharing so much valuable information on life, business, entrepreneurship and how you should think if you want to build something big. Work, earn, invest and repeat.. And as a founder and true shareholder, pay yourself last – not first. You big payday will show sooner than you expect – but most importantly the many incredible lessons you are picking up everyday on your journey and providing your network with complete free education !! Thank you Team Alvas.ai !!
good job, we are organizing AI demo day @ Woodside with top Ai engineers, VCs and founders. come present this and get opportunity to build with the best and get VCs interested. https://lu.ma/l94d0j72
Exactly the same point as James Kellett has been making recently. There's a trend here!
Two of us have grown our startup to a $20K MRR from zero, and we're going strong.
Starting with removing all distractions by paying a decent salary and covering food/living expenses is always the first step. Those suggesting a lower salary are not aware of the stress of living day to day with intense frugality. Great plan for you investment! I’m curious how your software licenses can be so high though?
Good boys!

2moGreat journey guys! This is just the beginning. A couple of questions/suggestions: 1. I completely understand that you want/need to pay yourselves. Question is, why 2200 USD and not something smaller? Indeed that would leave you with more cash to accelerate your growth and get to 10 or more MRR faster… 🤔 2. Interested to know what you have in the “other” category”? 3. I agree it might be easier to go from 3250 MRR to 10 MRR and more however have you thought about what could really move the niddle to get you there faster? (This is often where delegating some of that would help while founders focus on getting the product better) Happy to discuss and share some ideas on a call if you want. Either or, keep it up, exciting journey ahead ✌️
