Helping senior nurses and allied health professionals, manage the challenges of working relationships, so they can reduce stress and anxiety in the workplace.
Psychological safety is a subject heavily discussed in healthcare, and rightly so. The freedom to speak up and be listened to being one element. When it comes to challenges you are having in your professional relationships, as senior nurses or AHP what is it that you want to talk about to a particular colleague, and what is it you should you say? When you start a conversation, the more you talk about your subject, the less chance you have of having a successful outcome. It may be construed as a “get to the point” moment by your recipient and your message gets watered down. I’ve certainly been guilty of this beat around the bush routine, particularly when communicating with someone who has a very extrovert vocal nature, or an alpha male character, only interested in facts. I understand you feel very emotional about the issue that is affecting you, and you’ve noticed the problem crop up a few times before, yet you still need to be concise in your message. So where do you start? If you would like some help getting to grips with this, drop me a message and let’s have a conversation. #seniornurse #alliedhealthprofessional #outcome #coaching #professionalrelationships

Looking out for your mental health workers pays off. In 2022, Pinnacle Treatment Centers began an employee retention program that included Motivo for their clinical supervision. They wanted to be the kind of company that people wanted to have a career with -- something truly difficult in the Mental Health Worker Shortage. In the first year: --They expanded their hiring pool because they could offer clinical supervision to their prospects. --Their retention rate improved by 8% and they filled 90% of their counselor positions, reducing their recruitment costs. --Their Time to Fill (how soon new recruits started their first day with Pinnacle) improved. On top of that, only 2 Motivo clinical supervisees left during the calendar year. Read the Motivo/Pinnacle case study here: https://lnkd.in/gPtAT_NE

What we ask reveals our values. I’m interviewing for an on-call social work position to supplement the coaching & facilitation I do at Radius ECD - prepping questions is part of the deal, right? Below are a few of my questions. What are yours? (I’m betting many of them translate across sector and industry.) How would you describe the culture of the social work team? If I were to interview members of the hospice & palliative care interdisciplinary team, how would they describe the role of the social worker? What would I notice in the charting and in staff meetings that reflects an ongoing commitment to anti-racism and centering patient’s lived experiences? What are you doing to increase trust both within the team and with patients and families?

As therapists, we spend a lot of our human interaction energy with clients. It can be tempting to spend less time with friends & loved ones when we need to recharge from the impact of therapeutic interactions. Sometimes we may not even realize there is a gradual erosion until it becomes apparent that almost all of our conversations that have depth and meaning are those we have with clients. Similar to how lock-down times left many of us with rusty social skills, when we as therapists are spending the majority of our relational energy on work with clients, we can start to lose touch with how to interact naturally with those in our personal lives. New therapists don't yet know what it actually feels like to spend this many hours of our lives within therapeutic relationships. We seasoned practitioners don't provide enough guidance to new therapists on how to maintain the unique social batteries necessary to do this work sustainably. Heck, many of us are still figuring this out! #emergingtherapists #lmsw #plpc #clinicalsocialwork #professionalcounselor #newtherapists #therapistintraining #becomingatherapist

🎹 The symphony of patient care being conducted isn't confined to the bedside. Expertise in the milieu – that intricate dance of staffing, standards, culture, and patient needs – is the foundation for a very unique perspective. As a legal nurse consultant, I have become a translator, bridging the gap between the lived professional experience and the legal system. This remarkable shift isn't a coincidence. It's fueled by intrinsic motivation. External rewards are fleeting, but your values, your unwavering commitment to making a difference, that's the fire that burns bright. This intrinsic flame allows you to be the change agent you envisioned – the one who not only heals individuals but fights for systemic improvements in mental healthcare. 📃 https://lnkd.in/eGMqyVTD #DrassAndAssociates, #passionandpurpose, #roadtojoy, #wedogoodwork, #recoveryworks, #advocacyinaction, #motivationalmonday, #professionalally, #mentalhealthishealth, #peersupport, #behavioralmedicine, #addiction, #addictiontreatment, #policy, #harmreduction, #medications, #medicationsafety, #patientsafety, #policiesandprocedure, #interpretation, #implementation, #restraintreduction, #systemnavigator, #advocate, #restraintreduction, #mentalhealthnursing, #communitycollaboration, #legalnurseconsultant, #healthcareadministration, #nurseconsultant, #mentalhealthnurse, #mentalhealthnurseconsultant, #nurseexecutive, #legalnurse, #consultant, #certified, #credentialed, #lawsuits, #expertwitness, #settlements, #nurseeducator LegalNurse.com
