It was very strange indeed to see myself on BBC Morning Live this morning on a Zoom link from my daughter's bedroom talking about Bereavement Support Payments on behalf of the charity WAY Widowed and Young 😊 Please urge any cohabiting bereaved parents you know to submit a payment by 8 November, as they may still be entitled to some retrospective payments. You may recall I was celebrating last year when the law finally changed to extend bereavement payments to cohabiting parents like Sophie after ten years of campaigning by the charity WAY Widowed and Young & others. But bereaved parents now just have a few more weeks left to apply for backdated payments. Please help get the word out before the 8 February deadline. Really proud to have worked with the Frontline AIDS team on this series of hard-hitting reports, which have been released to mark #WorldAIDSday. It's heartbreaking that 3,100 girls aged 15-24 across Africa are still acquiring HIV every single week. Frontline AIDS are doing amazing work to make sure that HIV prevention is a priority in countries around the world.   https://lnkd.in/eNMx76z8

Can you help get the word out to bereaved parents whose partner died as long ago as 2001 that they may be eligible for backdated bereavement benefits? Through a Freedom of Information Request, the BBC has learned that fewer than 1 in 4 cohabiting parents who may be entitled to payments worth potentially thousands of pounds has so far submitted a claim. The clock is ticking down to the 8 February 2024 deadline.
