I have never met anyone who didn’t have something from their past they with they could do-over, erase from their memory, run away from. Unfortunately, many people refuse to let go of their past. They hold onto their trauma like a medal. They relive their mistakes over and over, wearing a cloak of shame and regret. They refuse to seek the help they need (all we ALL need I!) to move forward with their lives. Like a horrible movie, the scenes they wish to forget play over and over again in a continual loop in their minds. And they will share that loop with anyone who will listen - spilling the details over and over again. But the truth is this: As long as you allow your past to dictate your today and your tomorrow, you cannot grow, you cannot truly enjoy life, you cannot reach new goals and higher levels in your life. Two weeks ago, my husband put in his two weeks notice and is now walking away after 7 years with a Fortune 500 Company. It was time to move on. Time to reflect and create space for new ideas. Time to put down something that no longer served him. As a family, this decision wasn’t one we made lightly, and certainly wasn’t one without reflection. And in making this choice, we intentionally chose to focus on, “What’s the best that could happen?” It’s a nice little twist to the age-old inquiry when we can substitute the word “best” for “worst.” And it was beautiful how such a simple reframe could shape our choices, and  our path forward.
