Here's how Inbal S., xCPO of GitHub and now CPO of Twilio responded on the episode of Product Leader's Journey: "Someone asked me what is the weirdest role that you ever played in your career. I said I worked for customer service and I developed solutions that help customers self-serve. And people are looking into my history and my experience like why did you do that? Like what pushed you there? Because I said that's a tool that I didn't have in my toolbox. That's a skill that I was still missing as a product leader, as an engineering leader. If I never had a chance to work so close to the customer and really understand the experience that they have, then I'm missing that customer obsession. So building that customer obsession by taking a role in customer service and customer support and customer success and figuring out how to help customers, that puts another tool in your toolbox, that gave me so much understanding and so much appreciation that when the customers end up using your product, one, you can never anticipate all the ways that they are using it. Intuit's Michael Crenshaw and Zach Aller "Git" down to business in their talk Space-Age GitOps: The Rise of the Humble Pull Request from last month's #ArgoCon | #KubeCon in Paris. https://lnkd.in/gHRuuaAw This talk will assert three new rules for GitOps to help solve these problems: - Developers should see hydrated diffs as part of their review process. - Manifest hydration should be reproducible. - Environment promotions as well as rollbacks should be handled as automated pull requests. Pull requests give developers a place to review and discuss changes, they provide a place to implement promotion gates, and they exist in an ecosystem which developers already know and love. RevOps is more than just centralizing processes and data. It’s about educating your teams, giving them context and a point of view to drive their decisions. During our latest #RevOpsShow (link to the episode in the comments), these are insights I took away: 💻 Intuitive Design: Just like Apple products come with no instruction manuals, the way we view teaching should ensure users can start using the products with little to no learning curve. 🏋️ Redesign Training: Getting someone using a tool versus telling them about the tool makes a huge difference. Focus on doing, not on telling. ⚙️ Business Process Integration: If your business process drives the technology, teaching on the technology becomes almost redundant. 🔁 Have a Continuous Feedback Loop: Use real time feedback to continuously refine and improve your system. By viewing RevOps’s job as education and more specifically as an enlightening experience, that is what will drive change and success.
