Transine Therapeutics has become “Harness Therapeutics” Our name reflects our approach, built and refined over the past 3 years; harnessing the body’s endogenous cellular processes controlling protein synthesis to achieve controlled increases in protein levels in the safest possible manner. Our sole focus on RNA-targeted upregulation for neurodegenerative diseases reflects the significant number of validated yet unprosecuted targets in this space requiring physiological upregulation for disease treatment where few, if any, disease-modifying therapies are available. Our deep expertise in RNA biology/bioinformatics, upregulation analytics and neuroscience translation, together with our multi-modal approach, which allows us to select the best upregulation strategy for each target, uniquely positions us to execute on our mission to develop truly disease-modifying therapies that have the potential to transform the lives of neurodegenerative disease patients. The EQT Dementia Fund visited the AD/PD - Advances in Science & Therapy conference last week. It's great to observe that the amount of visitors continues to grow, and that the entire drug development ecosystem was present, including the leading KOLs, governmental organizations, pharmaceutical companies, start-ups, foundations, venture philanthropists, and investors. We saw interesting progress across the board - are we entering the age of neuroscience? AbbVie Exercises Exclusive Right to Acquire Mitokinin, Further Strengthening Neuroscience Pipeline  AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) announced today that it has exercised its exclusive right and completed the acquisition of Mitokinin, a discovery-stage biotechnology company developing a potentially first-in-class disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson's Disease (PD). Mitokinin's lead compound, a selective PINK1 activator, is designed to address mitochondrial dysfunction that is believed to be a major contributing factor to Parkinson's disease pathogenesis and progression. PINK1 plays a key role in maintaining a healthy mitochondrial system by facilitating the turnover of dysfunctional mitochondria. Mutations in PINK1 are associated with a loss of PINK1 function and cause familial forms of PD. Activation of PINK1 offers a potentially disease-modifying treatment approach beyond familial PD, by addressing mitochondrial dysfunction and improving mitochondrial health in sporadic PD. #lifesciences #biotechnology #mergerandacquisition

One of the things I love about working with biotech start-ups is that there is always something new to learn and be educated on! Coming from an acting background and moving into the world of scientific recruitment, it’s safe to say I have a lot to learn, so I'm committing to sharing a little bit of information of something I learn weekly in case anyone else is in the same boat. 💭 I’ve spent the last few months learning about exosomes and the role they can potentially play within drug delivery systems. Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles that play a vital role in intercellular communication. They carry proteins, messenger RNA and micro RNA to parts of the body that stem cells aren't able to get to which could mean groundbreaking discoveries and innovative therapeutic applications in the near future. 💫 Today, I listened to a very interesting and informative podcast with Cell & Gene about the near-term future of exosomes with Capricor Therapeutics, Inc. with CEO Dr. Linda Marbán, Ph.D. I would highly recommend giving this a listen!
