Transaction announcement 🤝 1,872 metric tons with CarbonCapture Inc. (Direct Air Capture) At Carbonx Climate, our mission is to identify and drive financing to the most promising and scalable Carbon Removal initiatives. We are thrilled to share an update by solidifying our ongoing partnership with CarbonCapture Inc. On behalf of our clients, we have purchased 1,872 metric tons of carbon removal, marking a significant stride in our collective mission. 🚀 CarbonCapture Inc. makes modular Direct Air Capture (DAC) machines that can be connected in large arrays with the ambition to remove massive amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere. Due to the modular architecture of its technology, the project is particularly promising thanks to its combination of renewable energy (wind & solar) with geological storage close to the facility, and first-time utilisation of Class VI injection for permanent carbon dioxide storage in deep saline aquifers. “This is our 2nd deal with Carbonx—we see them as true leaders in both educating buyers about the importance of different durable and verifiable carbon removal pathways and helping companies build a portfolio approach to their purchases. We’re going to need a lot more companies purchasing high-quality carbon removal and I look forward to our continued collaboration with Carbonx to achieve that.” Patricia Loria, MBA and MNR, VP, Business Development “We are excited to partner with CarbonCapture in their development of Project Bison and in helping facilitate the birth of this new cleantech industry in the U.S. CarbonCapture’s modular approach to Direct Air Capture (DAC), with machines that can be connected in large arrays, has the potential to represent a scalable way to remove large amount of CO2 from the atmosphere.” Sebastien Dewarrat, Head CDR At Carbonx Climate, we have the privilege to work with many high impact carbon removal projects across a diverse spectrum of removal pathways including Direct Air Capture (DAC), Enhanced Rock Weathering, Ocean CDR and bio-based solutions such as BECCS and Biochar. Together with our partner CarbonCapture Inc., we’re bringing carbon removal to climate relevance! 🌎 Stay tuned for more updates and communication from Carbonx #CDR #PartnershipUpdate #ClimateAction #DirectAirCapture #CarbonCaptureInc #Carbonx

megaton : 1,000,000 tons 13.4 years : the average time a #CDR company will take to get from founding year to megaton scale of carbon removal $211: the average cost per tonne at megaton scale 2035: the year most companies reported they will reach megaton 10 gigaton : 10,000,000,000 - the estimated amount of carbon removal needed per year by 2050 It was an incredibly insightful journey to work on this report summarizing a technical analysis of the Top 100 XPRIZE Carbon Removal teams. The report presents a very unique look into what it will take to get from 2024 to gigaton scale because it represents a snapshot of a diverse cohort of novel #CDR solutions across Land, Air, Rocks and Ocean categories. There is no silver bullet in this game, and this report gives us a glimpse of what it will take to get to the scale we need in the time we need and at what cost. We've got a long way to go. Follow the trajectory from kiloton to gigaton and let me know what you think.
#GettingtoGigatonne scale carbon removal will be one of the greatest grand challenges humanity has ever faced, and we are just getting started. Today we released a new report analyzing the Top 100 Teams in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal, using real data from their Feb 2024 submissions to the Finals of the competition. This data is a helpful benchmark for the industry, as it represents a diverse cohort of novel #CDR solutions from 25 countries across many pathways. These Teams are all currently removing CO2 or working to do so for the first time this year, a significant milestone for the industry. In addition to analyzing real kilotonne project operating data, this report looks at scaling trajectories and projections around building the first megatonne projects, and the larger impacts of scaling to gigatonne. Building a system to remove a kilotonne of carbon dioxide for the first time is a huge scientific and engineering accomplishment. We want to both celebrate these achievements, and recognize the distance still required to reach #climate relevant scales. The first gigatonne of CO2 removed will be the hardest, and we need to work together to get there. Download report here: https://lnkd.in/g2bR8KkW

Transaction announcement 🤝 746 metric tons with Equatic.tech (Marine CDR coupled with Mineralisation) At Carbonx Climate, our mission is to identify and drive financing to the most promising and scalable Carbon Removal initiatives. We are thrilled to solidify our ongoing partnership with Equatic.tech by purchasing 746 tons of carbon removal on behalf of one of our client, marking a significant stride in our collective mission. 🚀 Equatic.tech has developed an electrolytic process for atmospheric carbon dioxide removal that leverages the size and scale of the oceans. The process stabilizes carbon dioxide permanently in the form of dissolved bicarbonate ions (in seawater), and in the form of solid mineral carbonates. Moreover, the process produces hydrogen - a green fuel - as a co-product that generates revenue and clean energy. “Equatic’s approach is distinct, addressing both future and legacy carbon simultaneously. Carbon removal is directly measured using sensors inside Equatic’s facility. When combined with the vastness of the ocean, this approach enables unprecedented certainty for the permanent storage of atmospheric carbon at accessible cost.” - Edward Sanders, Chief Operating Officer. “Carbonx has been impressed with Equatic unique approach, combining both Direct Ocean Capture and Direct Air Capture in two unique pathways to permanently sequester CO2. We are excited about the potential for scale coupled with favorable unit cost economics to represent a globally relevant CDR solution”. - Sebastien Dewarrat, Head of CDR At Carbonx Climate, we have the privilege to work with many high impact carbon removal projects across a diverse spectrum of removal pathways including Direct Air Capture (DAC), Enhanced Rock Weathering, Ocean CDR and bio-based solutions such as BECCS and Biochar. Together with our partner Equatic.tech, we’re bringing carbon removal to climate relevance! 🌍 Stay tuned for more updates and communication from Carbonx #CDR #PartnershipUpdate #ClimateAction #Equatic #Carbonx
