It's #givingtuesday! One thing I've learned in my very long time (almost two months 😂) of working at a non-profit, is that from the outside, it's easy to get caught up in numbers. Especially coming from e-commerce and B2B tech spaces, we couldn't talk about success without mentioning ROI, conversion, the hundreds of other KPIs. Of course, non-profits have KPIs as well, but particularly behind human services organizations, each metric represents life and family that are forever transformed through the services and programs provided. There is a face behind it all. So, please donate today, even if you think it is a small amount, to organizations that make a difference. And if you are looking for ideas, consider these two organizations: Union Settlement A little self-promoting because this is where I work, but Union Settlement serves 10,000 people in East Harlem (about 10 percent of the community) every year. East Harlem is a neighborhood built by a diverse population, which unfortunately and too often means that access to resources is limited. Union Settlement provides services for every corner of East Harlem — from infants to grandparents, from established small businesses to those looking to build their careers — creating new possibilities for people every day. To donate 👉 https://lnkd.in/gBwuUPnd Forte Prep This established and extremely successful middle school and recently launched high school in Queens is run by Graham Browne, a friend, and someone I admire. I was lucky enough to join them for their career day in the spring and see firsthand the positive impact they are making on their students. Today, Forte Prep is showcasing one example of that impact by investing in the arts. They are raising money to purchase instruments for their music program, and as of this post, are more than halfway to their goal! To donate 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfiDQ_6x

Want to have a say about the new Code of Fundraising Practice, but not sure where to start?! 🤔 On this #FundraisingFriday, here are a few questions which might help to draw out what currently has the biggest impact on your organisation and what you may want to see changed, added or expanded upon: Is there anything in the Code that you find difficult or impossible to comply with in practice? (e.g. is there anything you feel is no longer fit for purpose or doesn't reflect how the sector actually operates?) Is there anything you and colleagues find difficult to understand, that the Code could help with? (e.g. are there any areas that you think could add further clarity on a particular area or are there any new areas that you think should be covered?) Could anything new be included in the Code that would help you when negotiating with partners and colleagues about fundraising arrangements? Are there any areas where a ‘principles-based approach’ would be unhelpful? (generally we think that moving to a principles-based approach is helpful, but are there any areas where it would be helpful to have more specific rules?) The Fundraising Regulator is taking a really holistic approach to the consultation, so it's a great opportunity for fundraising teams to have their say on what the new Code looks like, and how it can balance the interests of charities, donors and the public in a proportionate and pragmatic way. If you don't plan to respond directly, please do feel free to share any thoughts you have with us, as we will be putting together our own response. ❗ The deadline to respond is 1 December! https://lnkd.in/ejDxk8-R
We held our final event today as part of our 12-week public consultation on proposals for updating the Code of Fundraising Practice in partnership with NCVO. Thank you to everyone who attended and provided feedback on the proposals. Our code consultation is open until 1 December 2023 and we encourage anyone with an interest in charitable fundraising to share their views to help us ensure the code remains effective and relevant for the future bit.ly/47XqzNA

FLASH CONTESTS are an important strategy we use at The Shelby American Collection to build buzz and attract more donors to our annual sweepstakes. ⚡ Right now, we're running a sweepstakes for a Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition. Between now and March 3rd, everyone who enters will ALSO be entered to win a trip to Las Vegas, where they will have the opportunity to drive a GT500 on the track at Speed Vegas. Flash contests have been huge for us. We find that our donors get excited to enter, tell their friends, and eagerly anticipate finding out who won. The more creative we are about putting together enticing flash contests, the more successful they are. I'll put a link in the comments to our current sweepstakes and flash contest so you can take a look, as well as a link to an informative article about how flash contests function. #tapkat #nonprofit #nonprofits #sweepstakesfundraising #fundraisingideas

Driving businesses innovation and development with proactive support for R&D tax relief, Energy Tax Incentives, and funding.
How are businesses impacting society ? Being involved with the business world for many years now, I have found that there has long been a stereotype that successful business owners/CEO's/ board members, have no positive impact on the wider society. There has always been this belief that these people only have concerns for their own wealth and wellbeing. In some instances, I think that these perceptions can be correct, however, I don't believe that this applies to a large majority of the profound personas within the business world. Throughout my career, I have actually found that a lot of business people tend to move away from their orientation around profit and revenue, whereby having a positive impact actually becomes of greater concern. The satisfaction of benefitting others is something that is often stated as an overriding emotion by the many business owners that I have spoken to. You only need to hop on LinkedIn for 10 minutes to realise how much these people are actually doing for charities, fundraisers ETC. Below is a link to a key example of where a successful business owner has built a profitable business to then start applying efforts into having a positive impact. Donor Development & Administrative Specialist: Save the Storks | Investor in Life & Hope | Encourager |
What makes a GREAT fundraiser? I ponder this everyday, as it is my job at Save the Storks. I believe that when your organization has a tremendous mission & cause... it's easy to get people behind it...right? Not always. Economic times are tough for many, but I believe in the 4 P's to get you started on the path to a successful one! 1. planning 2. persistance 3. pursuit 4. people A HUGE thank you to Target for donating 2 door prizes for our silent auction at our Golf for Life, Arizona. Big corporations have money to share with non-profits because they like to get behind their communities and give back...thank you to Target for valuing the work of Save the Storks and giving back! It all started with a simple conversation to: plan, stay persistant, pursue what we needed, and build relationships with the people! #communitybuilding #nonprofitfundraising #savethestorks #foreverywoman #golfforlife #targetlovescommunity
