According to IPBES, human actions have significantly altered 75% of the Earth’s land surface, including 85% of wetland areas. How can we all be the #Generationrestoration? *Use purchasing power to support only brands that sustainably source materials *Collect kitchen waste to use as compost in gardens or balconies or contribute to composting schemes. *Learn about sustainable agriculture practices that preserve soil health, retain water and minimize erosion. *Adopt ecosystem-based approaches for pest control in gardens. *Pressure elected officials at all levels of the government to enact policies that support ecosystem restoration and conservation. *Learn more about how blue ecosystems underpin human well-being and how one-quarter of all marine life is fostered in coral reefs. *Volunteer time and labour and contribute to rehabilitating degraded landscapes and ecosystems.

Soil, water and forests are key driver of our ecosystem. We want to give clean air, pure water and safe food to our children, then we must conserve our natural resources. Natural resources should be in our heart not in mind. Its conservation is our culture and social duty not professional role. We all can contribute to save our god gift. Adopting sustainable agricultural practices, judicial use of water and, conservation of forests through increasing area under afforestation, stop further industrialisation in forest land, restoration of mangrove in coastal areas etc. are interventions needed. #naturalresources #conservationefforts

Moringa: A Tree of Many Talents 🌿🌱 Moringa isn't just a nutritional powerhouse; it's also a champion of reforestation and soil conservation. This fast-growing tree serves as a beacon of hope for our environment. 🌍 Reforestation: Moringa is often used in reforestation projects because of its rapid growth and adaptability to various climates. It helps revive barren lands, restoring greenery and biodiversity. 🌧️ Soil Erosion Combat: Its deep roots anchor the soil, preventing erosion and improving soil structure. Moringa's presence can help protect fertile land from being washed away by rainfall. 🌿 Natural Fertilizer: Moringa leaves act as a natural fertilizer, enriching the soil with essential nutrients. This benefits not only the tree itself but also surrounding vegetation. Moringa is a true eco-hero, contributing to the restoration and preservation of our planet. As we celebrate its nutritional gifts, let's also admire its significant role in environmental conservation. Together, we can ensure a greener, more sustainable future. 🌱🌎💚 SHOP NOW HERE at https://lnkd.in/gzm6_N7V #MoringaForThePlanet #Reforestation #SoilConservation

Do you have rocky outcrops on your land that you're unsure how to work with? Rocky outcrops subject to high grazing pressure can become bare of vegetation, leading to erosion and limiting water infiltration into the soil. Fencing a rocky outcrop and allowing vegetation to regrow can bring a whole host of benefits, both for farm productivity and for native wildlife and plants. Sustainable Farms has a rocky outcrop guide on its website which may assist you in understanding the biodiversity and productivity benefits of rocky outcrops and how to best manage them. We depend on biodiversity in many ways and must work together to conserve it. At Dublin Bus, we are keen to help biodiversity and have implemented several key projects to help protect our local ecosystems. Last year, we developed a rainwater harvesting system in our Summerhill Depot. It uses approximately 6.1 million litres of water to wash our buses annually (based on 2021 figures). This system was installed in the depot to reduce the use of mains water, decreasing pressure on Dublin’s water supply and reducing surface water runoff. Rainwater is captured from the roof, filtered into tanks, treated, and pumped into the bus wash system. We expect the rainwater harvesting system to save an estimated 3 million litres annually. #DublinBus #Biodiversity #PublicTransport

Take a look at my article about planting trees!!! #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking #plantingtrees Planting trees is a commendable way to contribute to environmental growth. Consider selecting trees that are well-suited to your region, as they can enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and offer various ecological benefits. Regular maintenance and watering are essential for their successful growth.

This week, the Queensland Government allocated $200 million to support the future of the timber industry through the Queensland Sustainable Timber Industry Framework. Timber production plays a vital role in addressing key challenges in Queensland, such as housing supply and working towards our emissions reduction target of 75% by 2035. Selecting appropriate timber sources to meet the increasing market demand in Queensland is of utmost importance. Queensland boasts rich biodiversity, hosting a significant portion of Australia's native mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs, and plant species. However, it is concerning that many of these species are currently under threat. Balancing the protection of our native forests with the need to sustain our timber supply is crucial. Preserving our unique biodiversity while ensuring a sustainable timber industry is essential for the future of Queensland. #QueenslandGovernment #TimberIndustry #Sustainability #Biodiversity #ProtectOurForests Read the Terms of Reference here: https://lnkd.in/gZVfWjuu

❓ 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫? 🌱 As the restoration movement becomes bigger and draw in more and more actors, restoration is often equated with tree planting 🌱 Narratives around restoration can easily give the illusion that planting hundreds, thousands and millions of trees will fix environmental and social challenges 🌱 However, while ecosystem degradation can occur within seconds, restoration of the degraded ecosystem so that it is functional again, goes beyond tree planting and requires time. 🌱 Restoration cannot always bring back what is lost – even when done right 🌱 Restoration or recreation of an ecosystem in location B cannot replace or compensate for what is lost at location A 📌 When an ecosystem is degraded, we do not only lose biodiversity, but we also lose ecosystem services - our allies and support system for our livelihoods, societies and economies. For example, land degradation contributes to increased risk of flooding and landslides and decrease in agricultural yield. ✅ 3 elements apply when addressing ecosystem degradation: 1. Avoid; 2. Reduce and 3. Reverse (if possible) ✅ Avoiding ecosystem degradation remains the priority ⬇ #worldenvironmentday #GenerationRestoration #Mauritius
