The CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 charged the National Science Foundation (NSF) Technology Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) Directorate to identify and evaluate societal, national, and geostrategic challenges facing the United States and investments in key technologies that could help address those challenges. One year ago, NSF TIP funded a pilot NNCTA to bring together leading scholars from across the nation to begin building the intellectual foundations, analytic tools, and data needed to respond to this charge. https://lnkd.in/eb76ub42

We’re fortunate the science and technology ecosystem in the United States is very difficult for other nations to replicate. It’s not just government. It’s government, private industry, academia, philanthropies, and foundations all working together. But the fuel for entire ecosystem is federal funding. If you take that away, the rest of it slowly collapses in on itself. That’s one of the reasons why Science & Technology Action Committee developed a new report, called The State of Science in America. The report has been released today. The report does a temperature check on the science and technology enterprise to identify where the United States is relative to the rest of the world and where we might be starting to fall behind. Importantly, this call to action also outlines the steps we must take to ensure that we continue to benefit from the outcomes of scientific discovery. This is a not a time for complacent stewardship. The KY NSF EPSCoR Statewide Committee has adopted a seven-year strategic roadmap for Kentucky's science and technology initiatives. The Kentucky Science & Technology Plan: Vision 2030 was developed in partnership with Kentucky Science & Technology Corporation (KSTC), the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, University of Louisville and University of Kentucky. "The S&T Plan addresses Kentucky’s need for higher-wage/higher value-added industry, investment in K–20 STEM education, and critical infrastructure to catalyze the growth of new and existing companies in key industry sectors."
