What’s my WHY⁉️ In 2018 I volunteered at a Veterans homeless Stand Down, and ran into a person I was stationed with 12 years earlier…unfortunately they were enrolled in HUDVASH and weren’t one of the other volunteers.
When separating (after 4 or 40 years) from the military, one of the common things I often talk to clients about, is identifying access to Veteran facilities. 1. Federal (including in - network) ✅ Hospitals ✅ Urgent Care ✅ Emergency ✅ Community ✅ Vet Centers ✅ “Benefits” ✅ Cemeteries 2. State ✅ A variety of the above Some want it. Others don’t. Some need them. Others won’t. In the comments, there’s two link to help identify all your needs. You better call Tyrone

Join the Movement: Support Combat Veterans' Health Care Access Now! Combat veterans deserve immediate access to the health care benefits they've earned. That's why DAV is rallying behind S. 3560, the Combat Veterans Pre-Enrollment Act of 2024. Click here to help --> https://lnkd.in/epKJRRDa This critical legislation would authorize pre-enrollment in the VA health care system for certain combat service members during the 180-day period before their separation from service. No more waiting months for vital care—our heroes deserve better. Transitioning out of service can be a vulnerable time, especially for those struggling with injuries or unseen wounds. By providing immediate access to VA health care, we can help mitigate the risk of mental health challenges, including suicide. Join us in supporting S. 3560 and advocating for our warfighters' well-being. Use the prepared email to contact your Senators and urge them to co-sponsor this important bill. Together, let's ensure our veterans receive the care and support they need from day one. Thank you for standing with DAV in our mission to serve those who served us. When counseling Veterans behind the wall, for numerous weeks, you look for a breakthrough or any sign that you are actually helping these Vets. Week after week we pass on info and suggestions but wonder if we are getting through to them. Today we had an incredible breakthrough. Two Veterans in the group opened up. The floodgates then opened and we were able to really do a deep dive into their thought process. If you listened to combat Veterans speak it would break your heart. The Military trains us to follow orders and kill the enemy. There is zero meaningful transition to civilian life. You are taught to “suck it up” and get on with your life. You would think that 20 Vets a day committing suicide would get the Military’s attention. Getting a Vet to ask for help is a challenge. Convincing a Vet that they need help is also a challenge. The saying goes “ no man left behind”. As a society we are not honoring that saying.
