Keep fire exits clear at all times. You never know when you might need them. Employees tend to forget about the exits, they become part of their normal surroundings and are frequently obstructed as they work, whether by boxes or stock, or equipment. It only takes seconds for a fire to start,so it's never acceptable to block the exit doors forany length of time.

Nobody is superior, and nobody is inferior. The janitor is not inferior to the CEO, nor is the security officer. We are each superior in our own right, but not equal. You may be the lowest in rank, but that certainly doesn't make you inferior to those at the top. Have you ever wondered what maelstrom there will be in your office or home if the nanny or janitor decides to vacate their post? Disaster, isn't it? The top needs the bottom, and vice versa. When we understand that there is no such thing as being a superior human being, then we understand what human dignity is. The CEO needs the janitor, messenger, and dispatch to be effective and efficient in his role. The CEO is superior to the cleaner and messenger in terms of rank, salary scale, and responsibilities; however, in terms of human dignity, we are all the same. You are unique and incomparable. Always remember that you're you, and I am me. Go for gold! MM

I help Businesses, Homeowners & Landlords have legal and safe buildings. Experienced & Highly Qualified, Electrical Design Engineer, Compliance Specialist – driven to make a better & safer Electrical Industry
Fire alarm and Emergency lighting certification. I have just had an interesting conversation, with the so-called, responsible person (RP) at a company, regarding their fire alarm and emergency lighting, Certification. In the first part of the conversation, it became clear they have no idea whatsoever that they are legally liable for the fact that their system had not been evaluated, In over a year, On their type 1 fire alarm system, and the emergency lighting system! or their legal liabilities. Their answer when I explained to them that they could be subject to upwards of 20 months in prison and an unlimited fine under the regulatory fire safety order, was: - “I don't care, nobody here will give a damn” At least I’ll get a free holiday and don't have to pay the bills” This appears to be the nature and contempt people have for others, In this world today!? To say I was disgusted, with this statement, Is an understatement. In trying to help them, ascertain If they had the necessary documentation to be compliant, it became abundantly clear, that over 95% of the fire alarm documentation and 95% of the emergency. lighting documentation did not even exist, on an installation that is just over a year old, and they did not even have an FRA! Their answer was. “That's all I have got, I do not care.” Faced with this, total disregard for people's lives and fire safety, even when, explained to them in detail the nature of the consequences the very next sentence was can you sort it out for us as cheaply as possible? We live in a very strange world, where people's contempt for Life. Safety Systems, are non-existent. People, seem to think, there are no consequences whatsoever, for them, ignoring the regulatory fire safety order. And not caring for anybody who enters the building, including their staff and the public, to me this is just disgusting behaviour. Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm, with the cowboy prices in the industry, this paperwork should have been present from the very start. I would love to hear my colleague's feedback, #firesafety # firealarmtesting #emergencylightingtesting

So on the early hours of this morning, at about 03:00 am, I heard an emergency alarm in my deep sleep at one of the hotels in KZN. Part of me thought that I was dreaming and I decided to ignore the sound. Again, it rang. It was at that point when I realised that I’m no longer dreaming🤣🤣🤣. I got up to check what’s happening. It was fire blazing 🔥🔥🔥at one of hotel neighbour’s room. I remembered some SHE rules I have been taught over the years of working in the manufacturing sites of the Food Industry. I covered my mouth and nose with a wet shirt and walked calmly to the reception. I got there and asked where is the assembly point? The receptionist did not know and he just said please stand outside. So I went to stand by the pool and waited for other guests to come join me. They all arrived in their sleepwear, frustrated of what was happening. The fire was so so bad already. We asked the receptionist if she called the police and the fire fighters? The answer was, NOT YET. One of the guest went to the police station and reported the matter and came back. To cut the story short, let me give a short summary 1. The hotel is fitted with smoke detectors, if someone was smoking in the rooms the detectors supposed to send an alert to the receptionist or security to react before the fire could spread that much. 2. No one from the hotel staff instructed the guests to evacuate 3. The receptionist didn’t know the assembly point 4. The fire fighters and police were not contacted by the hotel staff 5. The roll call was only done like 30 min after we have already came out of the rooms. 5. A few people were still missing 6. No one from the hotel staff knew how to use a fire extinguisher or a fire hose 6. No feedback was given to the guests after the emergency I was so disappointed at this. Thank God no one was injured. My sincere request to SHE Officers and Managers: When testing the emergency systems, please ensure the following 1. The staff responsible on shift are trained and knows the company emergency plan 2. The shift responsible staff tests the emergency systems on day and night shift 3. Test the emergency contact information during the mock emergency situations 3. Provide feedback after the emergency test #SHE #firesafety #firefighting

Haunting season has come to an end, but here are some tips for next year! To manage long lines at haunted houses with unruly guests, consider the following steps: 1. **Security Personnel:** Deploy trained security personnel to monitor the lines and handle unruly guests promptly. 2. **Queue Management:** Use barriers, ropes, and signs to organize lines, maintaining order and preventing cutting. 3. **Communication:** Clearly communicate rules and expectations to guests through signage and announcements. 4. **ID Checks:** Verify age and identification to ensure that only appropriate age groups enter. 5. **Bag Checks:** Conduct bag checks to prevent prohibited items from entering the premises. 6. **Surveillance:** Install security cameras to deter misbehavior and capture evidence if needed. 7. **Emergency Plan:** Have an emergency plan in place for extreme situations, and ensure all staff is trained on how to respond. By implementing these measures, you can improve safety and guest experience at haunted houses, even with long lines and unruly patrons.

🔥 We're supporting #FireDoorSafetyWeek which begins today (25/09) to raise awareness of the importance of fire doors. 🚪 A properly certified and maintained fire door will help delay fire and smoke spread. But if it’s locked or blocked then it’s not a fire exit. 👀 Check fire exit doors are not blocked or obstructed from the inside or outside and are clearly signed and lit.
