Thank you to WSFS Bank and the WSFS Cares Foundation for partnering with VFES during WSFS’ Second Annual “We Stand For Service Day” on June 12. Five members of the WSFS Devon branch came to VFES to help beautify the campus by weeding and mulching. Across PA, NJ, and DE, nearly 1,500 WSFS Associates volunteered at more than 130 nonprofits in support of this event. “We have been fortunate to have worked with WSFS for many years, in various dimensions, but service, in particular, connects very well with our mission. We were thrilled for the opportunity to connect with WSFS in this new way. All members of the WSFS team immediately got to work and were eager to learn more about VFES through stories about our students and participants shared over weeding and raking. We couldn’t be more grateful for our partnership,” shared Amy Zylberman, Assistant Director of Development and Major Gifts. Both WSFS and the WSFS Cares Foundation has been a strong partner and supporter of VFES and of our Customized Workforce Solutions program for years and we could not be more grateful. Thank you to Joseph Orsatti and his team at WSFS Devon for a tremendously fun afternoon that helped VFES shine.

In 2024, the KFC Foundation will award $10,000 to up to 100 nonprofits "to make their Kentucky Fried Wishes come true." From the Foundation's website: > "We’re looking for tangible, actionable projects that are feasible to accomplish with the $10,000 grant and will make an immediate impact in your community." > If you have a larger project (i.e., 100-mile trail restoration), break it down into something that $10,000 could cover in full (i.e., 10-mile trail restoration out of our 100-mile project). If additional funding is needed, detailed plans for securing additional resources must be provided in the Project Budget.

BACKGROUND: Malik's Charitable Foundation was established in 2018 by Regina Walker. Regina's passion for community service and her son, Malik, inspired her to address the educational needs of underprivileged students. MCF provides school supplies, book bags and books, benefiting over 100 local students. This support improves attendance, self-esteem, and enthusiasm for learning. OUR MISSION: To empower underprivileged students by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to excel in their education and future goals. HOW WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED OUR MISSION: In the 2022-2023 academic school year, we were able to attend an event at a local school during their Open House, where we were able to distribute book bags to deserving students. This event was a testament to MCF's commitment to fostering educational equity and nurturing the academic potential of every child. Furthermore, MCF's outstanding work through this event was recognized when the foundation was featured in the January 13, 2023 edition of the South Suburban News Newspaper. WHY OUR MISSION MATTERS: We believe that every child within our community should have equal opportunity and easy access to quality education. PLEASE JOIN US: Join us in this incredible journey to empower, uplift, and inspire. Your contribution is not just an investment in education; it's an investment in the boundless potential of the next generation. Learn more about our programs, volunteer opportunities, and how you can support our mission by visiting https://lnkd.in/etUskX_k. Together, we are architects of a brighter future, champions of hope, and the driving force behind dreams realized.
