Through our signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Foundation supports the hiring of adoption professionals, known as recruiters, who are dedicated to finding permanent families for children in foster care who are too often overlooked. That includes teenagers, children with special needs and siblings. Recruiters use an evidence-based, child-focused recruitment model to find the right family for every child. A rigorous, five-year national evaluation revealed that children referred to the program are up to 3x more likely to be adopted. The child-focused recruitment focuses on three areas: ❤️ Finding the right family for the child ❤️ Respecting a child’s voice, privacy and dignity ❤️ The belief that every child is adoptable. The relationships that young people make with their foster carers, social workers or other important people in their formative years can have a last impact throughout their lives 🙌 The majority of children in care do not have access to long term relationships with their social worker or special advisors, which will carry through to adult life. We should, therefore, look at the need for these roles and use limited resources to invest in the relationships that matter to children and are likely to last into adulthood.
