Trial lawyer and employment problem solver, specializing in all things California employment, including how to maximize workplace productivity and minimize risks.
As a trial lawyer, I know that winning jury trials back to back is an amazing accomplishment. If you need an eminent domain lawyer, check out my boss and resident badass - David Skinner! (Also, please - do me a favor and “like” this post, because he doesn’t really believe in this Linked In thing. Ha!)
Meyers Nave's Eminent Domain Team is proud of its ongoing partnership with LA Metro on the Westside Purple Line Subway Extension Project. In a recent successful jury trial, led by David Skinner and including Associate Kristof Szoke, we secured a favorable verdict in a case involving the acquisition of a subsurface subway tunnel easement in Beverly Hills, bolstering LA Metro's mission of providing affordable public transportation and reducing congestion and carbon emissions. This follows a successful July 2022 jury trial in another case involving the acquisition of a subsurface subway tunnel easement beneath Beverly Hills High School. We appreciate LA Metro’s efforts to advance crucial infrastructure projects and help shape the future of Los Angeles. But by far the most important reason to pay attention to the REM is its cost. Even after the just-announced increase to C$7.95 billion ($5.82 billion) its price tag is a mere C$119 million per kilometer, or $139 million per mile. According to data from the Transit Costs Project at New York University’s Marron Institute, the costs of other North American transit projects are literally multiples of that.

The U.S. is finally building some high speed rail. To one of the least sustainable cities in the country. Perhaps instead of building high speed rail from California, they should have built it to the Great Lakes region so they could bring water to Vegas. https://lnkd.in/ei-JRDsE

Port Authority’s Executive Director Rick Cotton and JFK Redevelopment Project Director Jessica Forse held a press conference to prepare the air traveling public about the challenges they face with increased traffic this summer at JFK Airport due to the redevelopment construction. They announced a package of measures to help passengers navigate construction-related traffic delays in getting to and from JFK airport this summer. The biggest take away was voiced by Cotton who “apologized in advance for the inconvenience” for the potential delays and congestion due to terminal and road construction. He strongly recommended that the public take mass transit and the AirTrain where the public can drop off and pick up travelers at Lefferts Station. He said this would be a free “PU&DO” area. This area also offers discount long term parking as opposed to terminal frontage parking which can be up to $80 a day and requires advance booking. There will be increased PAPD presence that will keep traffic moving quickly and enforce the no standing at the curb at any time. Cotton, although apologizing the inconvenience also promised that this Redevelopment would be worth the wait and the public given a NYC, Queens World Class airport to be proud of. Forse and Cotton at the press conference describing some of the new signage that is beginning to appear along the Van Wyck enroute to JFK. In addition, all traffic to Terminal One will be diverted to a drive-around so be prepared for some delays. #jfkredevelpment #traffic #panynj #vanwyck #airportroadways #flying #jfkconstruction #airportvoice redevelopment updates

4wHi Valerie: I loved your article and I was delighted to see one of my buildings featured in a photo on the front page! However, the former Hunts Point Rail Station, designed by the architect Cass Gilbert, is directly adjacent to the future MetroNorth Hunts Point stop, but will not be used as the MN station. I am redeveloping the former rail station into an event venue called Bronxlandia.nyc but I agree that we are among the next generation of NY's transportation infrastructure as TOD! Come up and see us sometime!
