Following the principles of Antler regarding openness for new ideas and the advice of our mentors (Erik Jonsson, Anh Hoang, Khanh Vương) – validate your idea as much as you can, we met with wonderful people from Te Pūkenga (comprising 16 institutes of Technology and Polytechnics across New Zealand) and discussed education-related topics, the challenges they face, and the potential for collaborative efforts in the field of education. It was so great to meet Vasili Evangelou and all of the students on Wednesday🎓 We spoke about so much and if there’s one thing I don’t do, it’s gatekeep! ❌ So here’s some of the key takeaways… 📈Use the algorithm reports and subsequent marketing advice to optimise your content and posting processes based on EXACTLY what the platform tells you to do 🗣️Don’t be afraid to get the attention of a potential employer, and don’t be a stranger to a voice note, it comes across much more personal as it can’t be copy/pasted 📲Do not just set up a LinkedIn profile and leave it, you need to post regularly to feed the algorithm and gain the attention you seek - always have your content radar on to support this 👏🏻Make the most of every opportunity, even if it seems like a small one, you never know who’s witnessing your work or which next opportunity could be around the corner #fridaymotivation #studentadvice #alumni #employability

“Hold the vision, trust the process”. . [the backstory] This quote “Hold the vision, trust the process” was seen in 2014 on the walls of DUO Marketing + Communications - my office back then. DUO was the first South African #Tech #PR agency I joined. Till today I carry those words with me. Every step of the way in my career, those words brought comfort when 💩 hit the fan. 💛 [a leap of faith] It was ten years ago that my decision to move to a South African PR agency to learn more about #B2B #tech companies in SA and how best to tell their stories or launch their products, changed the trajectory of my career. (thanks to Judith Middleton for having faith in me) [my sandbox] ❌ It was during my time at DUO that I started my TEDx volunteer journey with the TEDxCapeTown team. Judith allowed me to use our office after hours to host team meetings. It was during this time that my vision for the #brand team came to life. Again a significant shift in the history of TEDxCapeTown because we had not had such a large team drive our brand before. Again - "Hold the Vision trust the Process" 😃 [the intersection] I need to give you that context before I drop this full circle moment. 💐 My new MD and founder of Voxeon Communications was a TED speaker in 2021 on the first TEDx stage that I curated. Our 10th Anniversary and first event post the pandemic. Her #TED talk on how the #metaverse will reignite workplace creativity was one of two talks out of 15 talks that year, that was selected by TED global. It’s quite a significant moment as curator when this happens in the community. Thanks to TEDx, Jo crossed my path. Thanks to our shared passion for the intersection of tech, people and communications - I’m so blessed to now work with her in an agency dedicated to supporting future-oriented brands to tell their stories and help future-ready organisations build happy, high performing flexible work cultures. #futurebrands #internalcommunications #technology #humanconnectionsmatter #communication

Here is a last call for our Pecha Kucha Studio of next week. You can still join - the more the merrier! Pecha Kucha is a pitching, teaching, and public-speaking format allowing the practitioner just under 7 minutes to share a story, while using exactly 20 images or objects (or slides), each for exactly 20 seconds. This might sound somewhat cumbersome at first, but I can assure you that the skill can be quickly learned and once one masters it, it serves one for a lifetime. Our Pecha Kucha Studio consists of 3 consecutive sessions, on three consecutive days, each time lasting two hours. The format is such that participants are bound explore and learn with, from and among each other, developing mastery of the skill almost uniquely by helping others do it.
