Am I interviewing the right way? When hiring accountants and financial analysts, we often rely too heavily on traditional interview tactics that don't reveal a candidate's full potential. Asking cliche questions and focusing narrowly on resumes fails to showcase soft skills and cultural add that predict long-term success. Instead, use situational and roleplay questions to assess strategic thinking and fit. Highlight your culture to get candidates excited. By evolving outdated routines, you'll land financial talent that lifts your whole team. Let's connect to brainstorm creative recruiting strategies tailored for today's landscape. Many people are hunting to find their desired job. Sometimes, they may apply via the companies’ portal directly, but they never get reply. Nowadays, many HR of the companies post job requirements via LinkedIn directly and need your resume via email. Emailing your resume to HR or a person who has a reference is a best way to get notice yourself. Try the following way to find your desired job: Step 1: Open your LinkedIn application and initiate a search using the phrase "hiring [desired job profile]." For instance: • Hiring Statutory Audit • Hiring Internal Audit • Hiring FP&A or Financial Planning and Analysis • Hiring Equity Research Step 2: To narrow down your search, apply these filters: • Filter 1: Click on "Posts" to see job postings specifically. • Filter 2: Click on "Date Posted" and select "Past 24 Hours" or "Past Week" to view the most recent job listings. I have personally experienced an increase in interview calls. It's an efficient and strategic way to ensure that your resume reaches the right people within your desired industry. #JobSearch, #CareerAdvice, #Networking, #PersonalBrand, #InterviewTips, #ResumeTips, #Hiring, #ProfessionalDevelopment, #India,

🚫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟑 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐉𝐨𝐛 As a recruitment solution, our interactions with many recruiters have allowed us to identify three frequent and detrimental errors made by candidates: 1️⃣ Sending a CV in Image Format: Recruiters often view sending a CV in image format as a lack of seriousness. 2️⃣ Ignoring the Job Description: Many candidates don't take the time to fully assimilate the job description. It's essential to understand the skills and qualities required for the job, so that you can tailor your application to highlight the strengths that are relevant to the position. For example, it's not relevant to apply for a financial analyst position by emphasizing sales skills. 3️⃣ Don't know enough about the company: At a minimum, candidates should be familiar with the company's activities. Presenting oneself without any knowledge about the company is a crucial point to avoid during the application process. Avoiding these mistakes can significantly enhance your chances of success during the recruitment process! As recruiters, do you have other observations or common mistakes to share? Your experiences are valuable! #job #Hiring #JobApplicationTips #HR #

Head of Talent Management @ SearcHive - Helping top Finance talent find their next career opportunity.
This is probably one of the toughest environments to get hired right after University in a long time. My best piece of advice: don’t just rely on job applications. Get proactive. Reach out to the Hiring Managers and Recruiteds. Build your experience and research to give the Hiring Manager more data points to work off of. Start building your network (this will benefit you throughout your career as well). While these things won’t “guarantee” you an offer, they can certainly raise the averages in your favour to give you a better chance. #Hiring #Finance #Accounting #SearcHive

Head of Talent Management @ SearcHive - Helping top Finance talent find their next career opportunity.
When it comes to receiving feedback after having an interview direct, every company is different. Permanent roles can be a week or two. Contracts can be up to a week. But at the end of the day, if a company is interested in you, they’ll let you know eventually. If you don’t hear back, just move on. #SearcHive #Hiring #Finance #SearcHive #Accounting

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆... As September approaches, get ready for an increase in interviews as hiring managers regroup after the summer break and recruitment efforts shift into high gear. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting started, acing those interviews requires careful preparation. Here are some key tips to help you excel and stand out: 🔍 1. 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀: Brush up on core programming concepts, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. These fundamentals often form the backbone of technical interviews and showcase your problem-solving skills. 📚 2. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻: Familiarise yourself with financial instruments, trading systems, risk management, and any specialised software tools commonly used in the industry. Demonstrating domain knowledge can set you apart from other candidates. 🤖 3. 𝗔𝗹𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Many finance roles require algorithmic thinking to optimize trading strategies or risk calculations. Practice solving algorithmic problems and understand their applications in the financial context. 🛠️ 4. 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗢𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: Showcase your skills by working on relevant projects. Create applications related to financial modelling, data analysis, or automated trading. Demonstrating real-world applications of your coding abilities speaks volumes. 🔗 5. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Leverage your network. Reach out to software engineers already working in finance for insights into interview processes and industry-specific expectations. Their experiences can be invaluable. 🔮 6. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗨𝗽-𝘁𝗼-𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲: The finance and technology landscapes are ever-evolving. Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies. Your awareness of emerging innovations can make you a standout candidate. 🔄 7. 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲: Learn from each interview experience. If you don't get an offer, seek feedback, identify areas for improvement, and adjust your preparation strategy accordingly (𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩!) 💡 Remember, each interview is an opportunity to showcase your experience and passion for technology. If you're ready to start looking for new opportunities, be it graduate roles or something for later in your career, Durlston Partners work with a vast number of highly regarded firms in the finance space and I'd be happy to chat you through some live roles that could be of interest. Have you ever had someone assume you had a completely different job than you actually have? Sometimes our past job titles don't fully capture the depth of our experience. They may be internal titles that don't translate into the rest of the world. If this is the case for you, read on: I was talking with a client yesterday whose past job titles did not match their experience 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭. The titles implied that the person was in customer service however they were actually a 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘵. 😮 What? Yes, internal titles can be 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 misleading. 😑 Why this is a problem: the recruiter or hiring manager has to make logical leaps to understand your experience. If they can't make sense of your career history in about 30 seconds, you will be in the reject pile. 💔 So what can we do when our past internal titles don't translate to the external titles for our actual work? Share your internal title AND your industry title I'll use this client's as an example: ✅ Internal title: 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 ✅ Actual work-related, external title: 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘵 ➕ For your résumé write: 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘵 | 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 This will keep you in integrity with your past title 𝘈𝘕𝘋 convey what you actually did. If your resume is being ghosted or rejected quickly, check it to ensure that it conveys what you actually did, with real-world titles. Make it easy for people to understand us - so they can interview and hire us! PS: Have you ever had a strange confusion with what you do because of your title? If so, please share! 😃 #jobsearch #careeradvice #interviewpreparation
