I Help Businesses Connect with the Best Data, BI & Machine Learning Engineers across Australia & NZ | Keeping Up With Data Podcast 📊
Trying to save costs when hiring can come back to bite you 📊 There is no denying recruitment can be expensive, and there is a big emphasis on cutting costs in this area at the moment ✅ There will come a time when the cost of not hiring will exceed the savings you think you will make when you start the recruitment process ✅ Example: You are hiring for x2 Data Engineers & have a 3 round process for each hire 📊 The average time to fill permanent vacancies at the moment is between 10-12 weeks, with some companies interviewing 30-40 people before making an offer 😨 Two of your Senior Data Engineers on the team are part of 2 of those rounds They each spend 10 hours a week interviewing (20 hours in total, of which each engineer could be doing their actual job) Let's assume this stays the same for over a 8 week period ⏳ 👉 Weekly salary cost of one engineer = (Annual salary) / (Number of weeks in a year) = Weekly salary cost per engineer = $180,000 / 52 weeks = $3,461.54 👉 If over a 2 week period your engineers are spending 40 hours in total interviewing (weekly cost x 2 weeks) = $6,923.08 👉 Cost for 8 weeks = (Weekly cost for both engineers) * (Number of weeks of interview process) Cost for 8 weeks = $6,923.08 * 4 = $27,692.32 Having a live vacancy open for 8 weeks, with a 3 round interview process and 2 engineers conducing them will cost you $27,692.32 of engineering time Let's not forget engineers are generally working on building products or different revenue streams for your business to earn money 🤙 The value their delivery brings in is also being effected (which will vary on company, product etc...) 🙌 Let's also not forget that the average recruitment fee for an engineer on a $180k package would generally be in or around $25,000 - $28,000k ✔ The benefit of using a specialist is not just saving time and money, it's giving your engineers back more time to deliver monetary outcomes #WorkSmartNotHard #DataRecruitment #DataInsights #DataEngineer #HiringTips

I've seen common mistakes in beginners' and even some working analysts' resumes. These common mistakes can make a big difference in your resume! For example, rather than simply stating that you "created a dashboard in [xyz] tool," consider providing more detail about your project. Even I had the mistake in past. I'm sure you handled the data cleaning, ETL, or data processing in addition to creating the dashboard, right? This information can help recruiters better understand your experience and qualifications. Be specific and detailed when describing your previous work, and avoid oversimplifying your responsibilities. By following these tips, you can give your resume the boost it needs to stand out in a competitive job market. #resumetip

This morning my wife and I were discussing how some employer and university websites give you the option or requirement to submit your resume so that your data can automatically populate the application but it isn't always done correctly. What's the point if you still have to manually enter information that was missed or was garbled and entered into the wrong data fields? Well there's a perfectly logical #computerscience reason that all of you #career seekers and college applicants can read below. It includes a link to another post on optimizing your resume for an #ApplicantTrackingSystem. #software #SoftwareDevelopment #datascience #datastructures #parsing #SoftwareEngineering #HumanResources

Finally… the Proof of Awesomeness data driven decision tech for HR (jobseeker scoring), retail (in-store promotion optimization at the point of decision), and wellness (hyper-local noise reduction, quiet environments).
Yesterday, I posted about what we do. Today I’m posting about how what we do helps both someone looking for a job, and the hiring company. We have spent the last few years building an AI based scoring service that delivers a validated score in less than 2 seconds - a jobseeker’s score for a specific job posting. The jobseeker sees their score instantly. It’s easy to see which job is the right job! I recognized after recruiting for 10 years that a huge overhanging problem was affecting both jobseekers and hiring companies. It’s so fast and easy to apply to a job, that people just “spray and pray”, meaning they apply even if they aren’t qualified or suitable. This floods the system with irrelevant applications. 97% of applications are not a fit and until we came up with our scoring service, filtering out these applicants was expensive and done AFTER they already applied. This results in a lot of rejected, ignored and frustrated jobseekers who never hear back. Hiring companies aren’t thrilled either because of the costs, every step of the way, from sourcers, recruiters, hiring managers, interviewers etc. Please visit our website to learn more! https://geescore.com Discover your proof of awesomeness #geescore #myjobscore
