🦄 Recruiting Leader | Partners in innovation & growth for businesses | We Make The Hiring Process The Best Part of Your Day
Career gaps and short stints in jobs are common. Sticking around when your work life is hell or the job is not suited to you is the problem. The best thing you can do is leave and do something else. Don't stay because some recruiter told you it's not 'Okay to have the short stint or gap'. The better fitting company for you will value that you left because the fit was not right and not you. Most good firms in my opinion, want to hire you, to do you. https://lnkd.in/gVx7GneZ

Here's something you might not hear from every recruiter – “I push candidates to their limits” It might raise some eyebrows, but there's a method to my madness. By challenging them beyond the usual questions, I can see how they handle pressure, adapt to unexpected situations, and think on their feet. It sounds weird but it works. And hasn't gone wrong yet... At the end of the day, I’m not just here to find engineers to fill a vacancy. But talent that thrives in the deep end and turns challenges into opportunities. How does one find themselves in the manufacturing world? For me, it was quite serendipitous. Armed with a Business/Marketing degree and a minor in management, my initial job search took me on a different trajectory. While the intended job didn't pan out, the glimpse into the recruiter's world intrigued me, sparking a belief in my own potential. Landing in Technical Recruiting for Engineering and Manufacturing felt like stumbling upon a hidden passion. Witnessing the remarkable work of my candidates, exploring cutting-edge equipment, and diving into the realm of automation, I developed a profound respect for manufacturers and engineers. Despite lacking hands-on skills, my ability to grasp the intricacies of the field has made connecting talented individuals with my clients both enjoyable and valuable. What about your journey? #ManufacturingJourney #CareerPath #EngineeringDiscovery #RecruitmentStories

Lately, I've seen a number of posts/comments complaining about the recruitment process (are we surprised?!) These complaints were focused on jobs being given to internal applicants and therefore wasting external applicants' time. - I understand how challenging and draining the job search process is. - I understand it has to be such a letdown to do all of your prep work and crush the interview only to not be selected. *(follow up question, how do you know for sure the job went to a current employee? this info usually isn't divulged... I digress)* BUT I challenge you, jobseeker, to look at this situation in a different way 1. Typically (at large companies), jobs must be posted internally if they're being posted externally. This is standard practice. 2. Allowing current employees to apply for new roles is a sign of a culture of employee growth and development. This is a good thing! One of the top reasons employees leave their companies is due to lack of growth opportunities. Opening jobs up internally and, when applicable, promoting that current employee helps with retention and the company culture in general. So, I urge you to put yourself in that junior project manager, associate operator, junior maintenance engineer, etc shoes. I hope that helps to put things into perspective! Happy jobseeking :) #humanresources #interview #recruitment

75 calls from recruiters in 2 days! Yesterday I caught up with a Maintenance Engineer who has recently been made redundant. 😢 He has had enough and taken his CV off the job boards. He recieved 75 calls from recruiters in 2 days bombarding him with different roles. Some of the same numbers calling him 6/7 in the same day 🙈 It's not surprising, he's a brilliant engineer with a stable career history. 💪 What was really disappointing, he felt like most of the people he spoke with either didn't understand the role they're recruiting for. Or weren't really bothered about what he wanted out of a role. He has interviewed in a couple of places and he feels like he has wasted people time because they are exactly what he isn't looking for. 🙈 So Engineers & Recruiters in this space... we KNOW there's a skills shortage. we KNOW it's a candidate short market we KNOW technology advances & retirement will only make this worse in the next 5 years. we KNOW the recruitment market is saturated in this space. So how to we avoid not discouraging the brilliant engineers for engaging with us because they are overwhelmed? #maintenance #recruitment #manufacturing
