History says that even Alexander the Great was tutored by the famous Aristotle before he went on to conquer half the world at such an early age. The art of tutoring was recognized 1000 years ago, when great leaders, military soldiers had mentors who tutored them to help them refine their skills. So as and when private tutoring was recognized, over the period of time, it got so popular that its true potential was realized.. Here is why private tuitions are better than traditional classroom teaching... #privatetuitions #privatetutor #flexibleteaching #studentcentricteaching #educators #helpinghands

This is a poorly written article and seems to suffer from the same lethargic journalistic maladies as its Marine Corps cousin. It does not go into any real detail about the current challenges nessitating the changes, nor does it contrast new ''A' with old 'B' so readers can see for themselves what the actual 'changes' / 'refinements' are and how they better empower the new officer to excel at all the things Title 10 USC says the Air Force needs to do. However, it does rely on canned, verbose phrases, buzzwords and 'earth-shattering' Hallmark Channel quotes such as this: "Above all, the school will focus on cultivating good troops as well as good people..." Shouldn't they have been doing that all along - especially when training officers? Readers are then forced to assume "good" as a metric is codified, quantified, and qualified in the course curriculum somewhere or at least on a welcome aboard sticker. Maybe, if they truly want to turn out future combat leaders/warriors in their entry-level officer schools, they should slow down on the pandering seen below - that alone might do wonders for a revitalization of the junior USAF Officer Corps: "If you are a cisgender woman, a transgender woman, non-binary, agender, bigender, two-spirit, demigender, genderfluid, genderqueer, or another form of gender minority, this program is for you." - 2023 Air Force Academy Brochure (The author also did no research into the existing entry-level officer training conducted in the Marine Corps and Army...near the end of the article, you'll see what I mean.)

April is the month of the Military Child and while we celebrate them every day Partners in PROMISE will be shouting them out all month long!!! Did you Know? - That according to the Department of Defense (DOD), Military children change schools an average of six to nine times from the start of kindergarten to their high school graduation! That is a lot of transitioning for any child, much less our special education military children. So let's talk some tips to support them: ✨ Prep them for the move - once it a definitive (because we know dates can change) or at least once you know that you are PCSing even if you don't know where to prep them so that they can prepare for the transition ✨ Set a meeting with their IEP or 504 team - you want to discuss the upcoming move and make sure that the IEP or 504 accurately reflects your child's progress and records! ✨ Hand-carry the documents! I can't stress this enough make sure you have copies in hand of your child's special education record, preferably electronic ones too. Schools misplace emails and documents or forget to send them. ✨Lastly, try to have some decompression time in there because transitioning can be stressful for everyone, and needing to decompress is so important for our kids and ourselves. How many schools has your child attended? Comment below! #MonthOfTheMilitaryChild #April #MilitaryChildren #MilitaryFamilies #SpecialEducation #EFMP

One of the most underrated and perhaps unseen “channels” of personal development, I think, is parenthood. Aiming to be a good parent who develops his/her children to be fully functioning, contributing members of society requires one to: - take complete, 24/7 responsibility for another person’s life, development, sustenance; - make trade-offs for the sake of a greater good; - delay or even sacrifice one’s own gratification in favour of someone else; - make long-term plans simultaneously accounting for short-term constraints; - administrate effectively; - learn, unlearn, and relearn as one deals with a full spectrum of human behaviour; - teach, mentor and coach; and - the list goes on. The closest thing I can think of is perhaps becoming a military commander, but parenthood doesn’t require such a long period of arduous training.

The recent shift in conscription rules in China, aiming to promote national defense awareness from elementary school and requiring military training at high schools and universities, reflects a strategic move to enhance the country's defense capabilities. This initiative, part of broader efforts to improve the quality of military personnel, underscores China's focus on preparing its society for national defense amid rising tensions.

I missed this development, the first major shift since conscription rules were updated in May 2023, but all #china-watchers should keep this on their radar. #military #conscription #forces #talent #recruiting #preparation #nationaldefense https://lnkd.in/e8mN3GeH

Took this from William Lennon on the “PNWVETS” page on Facebook… For those Veterans that are interested in teaching after serving there has been a considerable change in the requirements for being a JROTC instructor in high schools. Until recently, the requirement was for the service member to be retired from military service to be eligible. DOD has approved, for all services, a significant change. Not all services are online with this change yet but will be soon. Each service can adjust the requirements slightly, as long as they do not drop below DOD requirements. Right now, the Army and Air Force are certifying with the following criteria. Noncommissioned Officers who have separated/retired within the past 5 years with a minimum of 10 years cumulative honorable service in the grades of E-6 through E-9. Officers who have separated/retired within the past 5 years with a minimum of 10 years cumulative honorable service in the grades of W-1 through W-5 or O-3 through O-6. This is a significant change and great opportunity for those that have served, but not retired. As a first-year teacher after serving in the military, pay would drop significantly from active duty if you are teaching outside of JROTC (math, English, etc.) But as a JROTC instructor, DOD has produced a new pay scale, similar to the GS pay scale for instructors. I have attached the Air Force one below. It will be the same for all services. This is minimum instructor pay (MIP). Schools are required to pay at least MIP. But many instructors receive more than MIP from their school districts. The Marine Corps and Navy should follow suit soon. I teach in a Marine Corps program, not a recruiter or employer. There are a lot of misconceptions about what JROTC is. Most folks see it as a recruiting program. It is not. It is a leadership and character-based class in high school. I’ve been doing it for 16 years and love it. If you are interested in JROTC, I'd be happy to talk to you about the job. https://lnkd.in/gNehpqEd

As 2023 comes to an end, this article is a quick reminder of why we at AFAMS do what we do every day. Because, in the end, #AFAMS' (and rest of Team Orlando’s) time, energy, and efforts are focused to help better train our #Airmen, #Guardians, #Soldiers, #Sailors, and #Marines to be better skilled at their jobs, using better equipment, to be more successful in their day-to-day operations, all to help better accomplish their overall missions. Serving our service members is the reason that we are here. New in 2024: Air officer, enlisted training gets a makeover. "Schoolhouses across the Air Force are reimagining education for a new generation of airmen, hoping to shape troops who are more critical thinkers, more capable workers and wiser leaders. ... measures are in the works to help the Air Force catch up to civilian schools that are years ahead in technology use, classroom collaboration and curriculum design. Tablets, augmented- and virtual reality headsets and other tools aim to give new airmen more control over their studies, particularly at the technical schools where troops learn their first — or their next — trades." It is time to put the knowledge to practical use. Have you ever thought of yourself as an individual who is a passive or active learner? Passive learners simply absorb information without doing anything with it. Active learners, on the other hand, instead promote the idea of using knowledge as a driving force and transforming it into meaningful actions, problem-solving, decision-making, and creating results. Knowledge becomes most valuable when it is actively used to achieve goals and contribute to personal growth, professional success, and the betterment of society. Always position yourself to make an impact and "Be The One” to make an impact on those around you. Be the better you! Continue to grow and make a difference in your society. #veterans #veteranshelpingverans #militarytransition #militaryspouses #militarycommunity #veteransupport #veteranowned

We love to hire veterans, but they often don't know about opportunities to work in the education sector. They can learn more at this Aug 31 webinar. As California’s school districts continue to hire for the new school year, one potential untapped source of new teachers as well as many other needed professions are those who have served in the military and their spouses. California communities, California State Government agencies (which have contact with Military veterans), veteran service organizations, and California Institutions of Higher Education and their veteran service departments are coming together with Heroes to Education and eight California School Districts/Offices of Education to reach out to those connected with the military to give them a second career opportunity through public education in which they can continue their service to their country, state, and communities. Military veterans, Reservists, California National Guard members, those planning to leave the service within six months, their spouses and spouses of active-duty personnel are invited to an August 31, webinar at 3 pm with Heroes to Education and the eight School Districts/Offices of Education (Los Angeles Unified, San Diego Unified, Travis Unified, Murietta Valley Unified, San Bernardino City Unified, Silver Valley Unified and the Orange County Office of Education and the Riverside County Office Education). During the webinar, they will learn about the second career opportunities in public education, including but not limited to teaching, paraprofessionals, skill trades, operations, IT, diesel mechanics, school resource officers, bus drivers, substitutes. Heroes to Education is a national non-profit organization that assists service members, veterans, and their spouses in transitioning into public education. The group highlights career opportunities and supports participants’ journeys from preparing applications through the placement process. Participants also receive support in their first few years on the job. TO REGISTER FOR THE WEBINAR, the link is HTTPS://TINYURL.COM/HEROES2ED

Student veterans face many unique challenges when they leave the service and enter a college or university 👇 1. Many student veterans coming into school have been in the military for about 4-8 years. They're adult learners joining a college campus that's often dominated by younger people. It's a very different environment than what they came from. 2. 54% of student veterans are married, and 52% have children. Many are also working part-time. So they have significant obligations and responsibilities in addition to their education. 3. They're often trying to figure out how to translate their military experience to higher education (including how to achieve credits for what they've already done in the military). Warrior-Scholar Project is a good resource on this front! 4. Some student veterans are still dealing with medical issues or disability claims and have to go to appointments periodically. 5. Some student veterans (as high as 20%-25%) are returning from deployment with PTSD. For more information on how career services can best support student veterans, check out this episode of the Career Everywhere podcast: https://lnkd.in/gDqpcPAu Featuring Eric Stetson, Director of Engagement and Enrollment at FourBlock and a retired Army officer. #CareerEverywhere #careerservices #highereducation #careerdevelopment #careercenter #studentveterans
