Last week, Airlift Northwest joined American Medical Response and Life Flight Network on the Harborview Medical Center helipad to honor 36 U.S. fallen first responders. The multi-state procession of this year’s temporary National EMS Memorial, known as the Tree of Life, began here in Seattle for the first time, and its last stop is Arlington, VA. The ceremonial drive will take place over the course of several days leading into the Weekend of Honor. We honor those who have died in the line-of-duty and recognize the sacrifices being made by our nations’ EMS providers.

A timely evaluation of the intersection of peer support and psychedelic therapy. The new defense bill allocates funding to provide more treatment options for those that serve in the military, specifically for promising psychedelic therapies coming through the pipeline. And, various states are looking towards creating medical programs for psychedelic therapy that will need to factor in community and cultural components to how people prefer to be supported during their healing process. https://lnkd.in/gxjXBSjq "This existing Veteran-centred psychedelic peer-support model could contribute valuable knowledge and experience to potentially implementing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy within the VA or in community settings where psychedelic services are becoming legal in various jurisdictions in North America. Further research into existing psychedelic peer-support practices, as well as researching novel models that integrate peer support into psychedelic facilitation and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, can help address ongoing issues with access and equity in the psychedelic space."

Wonderful, human storytelling Dan! Thanks for sharing this perspective and including the powerful call to action and reminder to know CPR.
Gen. Eric Smith, commandant of the Marine Corps, collapsed last fall alone on a run while suffering from cardiac arrest. This is the previously untold story of how he survived, and of the first responders, medical personnel, and civilians who scrambled to his aid to save a life without a clue who he was. I'm deeply appreciative of the Marine Corps, especially Gen. Smith, and others involved for trusting me with this story. It comes with a reminder, too: Timely CPR matters a great deal.

Douglas SBD Dauntless Divebomber. This was a workhorse of the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Like many other naval aviation aircraft (P-3, P2V, Catalina, others) the Dauntless found a second career in the world of Aerial Firefighting due to its robust design and stout construction. Learn more about this in my new book about the history of Aerial Firefighting; Mudslingers. 100% of proceeds go to benefit the Aerial Firefighting community https://a.co/d/1ameTsJ
