Meet Periandro Delgado, our summer intern who attends Le Moyne College. Learn more about him below! I love going to the gym and staying active throughout the week, as well as spending time with my loved ones. Careerwise, I am still unsure of which industry I would like to work in, but my plan is to do sales. One thing on my bucket list is to visit Europe next year. If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be Bali. Welcome to the team, Periandro! Christopher Grisham, API, AIS

50% of our Q1 interns graduated few months ago. The other 50% graduated several years back. None of them studied cyber security in college but they all have now fully joined the cyber army. Jamaal Raheem and Princess Ugwokaegbe here are in the latter group of interns who graduated many years ago. They both took a pay cut to join the program and I can say their career switch is well and truly on! Now they know how much that was worth it. Last week, while conducting the final interviews for our Q2 applicants, I came across two highly impressive individuals like Jamaal and Princess (i.e. those identifying as he/him & she/her) who were desperate to get picked. I decided against that idea 💡 because these individuals, with 10 or more years of experience under their belts in different fields, are easily in the top 3% of earners in the country. If you’re already making CISO level salaries in other fields, it just might not be the best idea to go all the way back to the base of the ladder in another field. As they say though, love is blind and a true passion that burns within your soul is one that can never be put out. I have committed to meeting these individuals (in person) in months to come to see how I can help translate their desire into outcome. Back to Jamaal Raheem and Princess Ugwokaegbe , I am glad to see their competence and confidence levels shoot through the roof several weeks into the program. For ones who didn’t study anything close to cyber security in college, these individuals, like their co-interns, have really impressed me. Oh! What am I even saying? I didn’t study anything close to cyber security in college either. In my days, when you heard the word, “cyber” you know they’re talking about Internet café. 😁 https://lnkd.in/gRtHT7Ui

[Thank you Edo!] Yesterday was the last day of Edoardo Baiocco curricular internship. In these two months, a beautiful relationship has been born with him. His contribution has been fundamental for 4 reasons : 1. It further strengthened the unity of the team and the ease of sharing between the IT team (Alberto Bordin, Paolo Ceffa and Federico Visintini )and the Business team (Lorenzo Roccati, Letizia Gaggiotti, Francesco Tansella). 2. It gave a strong boost to lead generation automation; 3. Contributed to the speed of creating the data room for investors (for our seed round) 4. Contributed to the development of the new version of the Olivia front-end. Edo, your contribution was crucial. When you want to come back, the doors will always be open to you. "Not he who begins, but he who perseveres" #olivia #demandforecasting

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," said Seneca. It is tricky, tireless work to ensure a #familybusiness has the governance needed to preserve family harmony, AND run a great, enduring business for generations. It's a lot lot easier to align when the business is small, because those who needs to know are either in the break room or at the kitchen table. When you have grown into the #1 Refrigerated Tea Brand in America and the fastest growing lemonade like we have at Milo's Tea Company, Inc., it takes a thriving ecosystem of remarkable coaches, advisors, independent directors, and thoughtful TEAm members to drive exceptional governance. One big piece of governance is education and succession planning for NextGens and spouses that married in. So, when we were all in #Birmingham for Thanksgiving a few weeks ago, we hosted a Family Meeting with owners, spouses, and kids led by advisors and key TEAmmates. What do you do at a Family Meeting? Business, first, of course. We educate about our company, industry, and governance. This meeting, we enjoyed a plant tour of our #Homewood manufacturing and distribution center. Then, we met about the duties and responsibilities of ownership. We acknowledged that the duties for family members to interact with the business are even greater that other associates. And, we shared the reality that it's not just going to be "inherit," there has to be merit, hard work, and contribution to be ready, and to overcome assumptions that DNA got you a job, an internship, or an opportunity. Next up, had to be a little fun too so we headed to Topgolf for a some healthy competition on the course. (Yes, I lost 🤣 ). It's important to talk to kids early about family business because this is a very long journey. I'm not sure what will happen with my kiddos. But I am sure that it's the right thing to educate loudly, repeatedly, and early-on that with great opportunity comes even greater responsibility. If you're not ready when that opportunity comes, it will fly past you, especially if it is on a rocket ship like Milo's. What do you do to help yourself or others be game day ready if that opportunity comes? #BrewingALegacy #DrinkMilos Carlton Wallwork

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – JFK No matter ones’ literary proficiency, the bittersweet sensation from the conclusion of a compelling chapter is universal. As I transition into a new one in the Metro Detroit area, I spent the weekend reflecting on my experience at Univeral Traffic Service, and would like to share my thoughts. First, I want to thank Alex Krauter: he was willing to extend his network to me for an internship opportunity. Without his selflessness, generosity, and belief, the door to UTS would never have been illuminated. Immersed in the role as an Operations Intern, I was surrounded by a team of professionals willing to share their knowledge and experiences. No matter the title or workload, every person I interacted with was willing to help provide a solution. This infectious group mindset undoubtedly attributed to my professional growth. After progressing through the advancement program, I had the privilege of serving clients as their Account Manager in May of last year. UTS has a reputation of providing their clients with the best-in-class service. The past year was epiphanous in how much adaptability, resilience, collaboration and humility is required to achieve such a mission. Its with hindsight that I feel satisfaction in our teams ability to identify each clients’ problems, partner with talented individuals to create a plan, and provide clients (and vendors) a solution tailored to best suit their needs. Briefly touching on collaboration: from UTS colleagues, local LTL terminals, International Customs Brokers, Owner-operators, national sales representatives, and decision makers at all levels, each interaction filled me with gratitude and appreciation for the people that keep this industry churning. As I seek the next opportunity, my gratitude for my family, friends, colleagues, superiors, clients, and carrier connections cannot be understated.

Gencom Founder and Principal Karim Alibhai recently joined FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management’s new Hospitality Real Estate Advisory Board alongside other leading #SouthFlorida real estate leaders. The board is focused on enhancing the practical relevancy of the Chaplin School's real estate curriculum and expanding experiential learning opportunities for students through internships, mentoring and direct engagement with industry leaders. According to the official release, real estate comprises the largest portion of most hospitality investments. In addition, its operations-intensive nature positions it among the most complex of all types of commercial real estate. These two factors, together with ever greater demand for experience-based value creation across all commercial property sectors, are expected to drive strong demand for hospitality-specific real estate expertise well into the future.
