A newly published study by Kristian Beran, Eline Hermans, René Holm, Kia Sepassi and Jennifer Dressman revisits the Refined Developability Classification System (rDCS) with a fresh perspective on supersaturation and precipitation behaviors in APIs. The study introduces a stratified approach to enhance biopharmaceutical risk classification, offering more nuanced scenarios (i.e. ambitious, optimistic, pessimistic, and worst-case scenarios) to improve formulation decisions, offering clearer insights into developability risks and aiding in optimizing oral bioavailability of poorly soluble APIs.
