How to turn a war room into a nightmare: - Instead of investigating and mitigating the root cause, focus on identifying who’s guilty of creating the incident. - Gather as many stakeholders, managers, and coordinators as possible to create a high-pressure environment, theoretically speeding up the solution. - When exposed to the root cause, prioritize delivering the prettiest solution over the one that quickly addresses the issue. - Avoid asking for help. - Continuously interrupt and question people, preventing them from doing their jobs.

Consultant-Public Safety Communications, NYPD Captain (Ret.) I help 911 agencies struggling w/ Recruitment & Retention increase staffing levels & improve performance metrics so that your agency can Thrive!
I had a great time presenting my Recruitment and Retention Workshop at the Massachusetts Communications Supervisors Association. Thank you so much to Katrina Shamshak, RPL, for hosting me, as well as Anthony Landry for your input and participation in a great discussion. Here are some takeaways I would like to share: 1. 911 Dispatchers & Operators need their directors to be more involved. If you're a 911 director, you need to engage your staff and learn about the nuances of what they do on a day-to-day basis. Your success is based on their success. And if you're a uniformed cop or firefighter; Lieutenant, Chief, Captain or whatever, you need to do the same thing, respect their experience & expertise, and show a little humility. 2. If you work in government, you need to visit your local 911 agency. They need to work with updated technology, and they need a livable wage and benefits to attract new talent so that they can continue to provide life-saving services to your constituents. As call volume and police/fire/EMT staffing levels increase, 911 needs to see an increase in their headcount too, along with allotted supervisors, training opportunities, and other resources. Contact me today to schedule this Recruitment & Retention workshop for your local 911 agency or regional conference, now booking for 2024. Visit my website TEN-4Consulting.com, or email me: INFO@TEN-4Consulting.com. #911dispatch #localgovernment #leadership #retention #recruitment

Information warfare, or IW, is the use of information to influence an adversary's decisions and actions. It is a battle that is fought without bullets, bombs, or blood, but with narratives instead. There are a few different kinds of IW including: 🕵♂️ Information Operations includes warfare but also includes non-technological aspects like psychological operations and public relations efforts 🕵♂️ Active Measures is a term used by intelligence agencies to describe covert or deceptive information campaigns aimed at influencing a foreign audience 🕵♂️ Hybrid Warfare refers to a blend of conventional warfare tactics alongside information warfare, economic pressure, and political maneuvering 🕵♂️ Disinformation Campaigns are technically a tactic used in information operations, but is sometimes used as a catch-all term for the deliberate spread of false or misleading information IW and strategic communication go hand in hand; or at least they should. Any information campaign relies on narratives to succeed, and strategic communicators are narrative experts, making IW and strategic communications natural allies in today's complex information environment. The strategic communication team can: 💻 Craft strong narratives to counter disinformation or to support operations 💻 Build trust and credibility for IW efforts 💻 Identify vulnerabilities to manipulation 💻 Critically analyse media and social media content Effective communication can be a powerful weapon in IW, but collaboration demands clear boundaries and shared goals so that professional ethics are respected while security, intelligence, or warfare objectives are pursued. #InformationWarfare #InfoWar #StrategicCommunication #Comms
