These are people who devoted their lives to bettering Maryland, and we will never forget their service as we seek to support the families.

HUGE tragedy averted in Northern Virginia, a bloody massacre was averted at Park Valley church on Sept 24th. Marko at T4Tactics does a great job of pointing out several fantastic examples of people thinking outside the box and communicating with each other, and here are some other basic take-aways for church safety security volunteers: 1- Arrive early, at least an hour, take a look around the property and make note of who and what is around. 2- Check and ensure "back doors", entrances that are rather "out of the way", are in fact secured! Sometimes a door will not shut tight enough on its own to secure itself (I know that happens at my church from time to time as hinges and springs wear out!) 3- Manpower allowing, try to have people positioned where they can observe approaches from these back door areas. 4- Keep an eye on elevated areas such as the balcony if your worship center has one. 5- Be prepared for a possible copy-cat event that often happens within 13 days. When you get the chance, please take a moment to watch Marko's 9 minute video and share with your church safety security team...https://lnkd.in/gQGbrBpi #churchsafety #churchsecurity

So, I came across this heartbreaking video showing the skeletal remains of baby birds that perished while waiting for their mother to return and feed them. Tragically, their mother never came back because she was killed. This poignant image reminds me of the countless victims of conflict and war around the globe and how the impact can devastate entire future generations. When a person is affected by conflict, the repercussions extend far beyond the individual. Families and communities suffer life-threatening and irreversible adverse effects. The loss of a single parent, like the mother bird, can mean the loss of hope and survival for those who depend on them. This stark reminder underscores the urgent need to end wars and embrace peace. By advocating for peace, we ensure that victims of conflict, like these baby birds, have their loved ones return to them. It is through peace that generations can thrive, children can grow, and societies can flourish. Let us work together to create a world where every parent comes home to their children, where the future is not marred by the shadows of violence but illuminated by the light of hope and peace. #PeaceBuilding #EndWar #SocialJustice #FutureGenerations #GlobalPeace

Cost of living in Canada is beyond manageable. Taxing people to death is going to lead to more of this. The cost of rent in this country is absolutely insane. Imagine what it must be like to not be able to house your family in the dead of a Canadian winter. I understand why they're removing the shelters, but a better place to start would be reducing the cost of "SURVIVAL", not living, in Canada. Literally being "taxed" to death in this country. This week, old man winter returns from his vacation, and he is taking his job seriously, I wish our government would do the same. More people are being forced to live on the streets because of mortgage rates moving beyond their ability to pay, who do you think this benefits? The rich people able to buy those "bank owned" houses and charge outlandish rents on. The problem couldn't be more clear. STOP the cost of survival "hockey stick", unlike the other one, this hockey stick is real.

I’m saddened to hear of the discovery of a deceased person at an encampment this weekend. This highlights the need for more specialized shelters in Edmonton. That’s why our government is working hard with our community partners, including First Nations, to ensure shelter spaces continue to be available. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gByVauH7
