Today, June 23rd, is International Women in Engineering Day. This also marks my first 10 years work experience in this field, following 6 years of engineering studies. Reflecting to my current health condition and as an overall lesson that I learnt over these past years, is that “very busy” is the most common excuse for a lack of results (or expected results). True productivity is about doing less, but doing it exceptionally well. Like no other. And that’s called “your unique brand”. Today we celebrate International Women’s Day! Each year, this day is observed on March 8, with this year’s theme being “Inspire Inclusion.” At CV Technology, we have women in many different departments within our company playing key roles in how we can provide the best in explosion and fire protection to our clients. From engineering to accounting to human resource to marketing to logistics, our company relies on the contributions of women to ensure safety is possible for people working with combustible dust hazards. When it comes to fire and explosion safety planning, a variety of voices and perspectives is often the key to a successful safety management program and when identifying potential issues on a production line or elsewhere in plants. Neha Mishra on balancing life and work: "It's essential to establish clear boundaries between work and personal time, prioritizing self-care and relaxation activities. Effective time management, delegation of tasks, and open communication about commitments are key strategies. Flexibility and adaptability help in managing unexpected challenges." Cynthia Ligaga reflects on the industry's work-life balance: "In aviation maintenance, the expectation to be on call 24-7 makes it extremely difficult for women to raise a family. Those who choose to have families do so with difficulty unless they have a very understanding family structure. Now, working remotely with Aeroconsultant, I have the flexibility to be present for my family and excel at work." Purva Sonawane shares her experience: "It's a juggle balancing professional and personal life which sometimes can be tricky. But some flexibility and open communications can solve all and help out. Setting boundaries and using flexible work options have been key successes which I experienced from Aeroconsultant." @Khushi Gupta on celebrating milestones: "In my professional life, I acknowledge accomplishments publicly, reward team efforts, and set new goals. A superb paper outlining the importance of gender equitable human factors and ergonomics in transport. This work outlines how a gender equitable, human factor-focussed approach can ensure all forms of public transport meet the mobility needs of the labour market, family and community roles. It includes excellent examples ranging from car crash safety, to the importance of lighting, to railway station safety. It also outlines how this approach is vital to create a transport sector with cultures where women are recruited, retained, promoted and leading. Very interesting presentations and conversations in Session 3 on Mobility Hubs - lessons learned 2023. The discussion covered keys to success including "micro-consultation" and early engagement with communities/stakeholders, strong partnership building, working with local and regional groups, and flexibility and creativity in planning. Our speakers also discussed facing funding limitations, navigating planning permissions and including women and carers in planning to create mobility hubs that are accessible for all. #como2023
