Exciting news! We're partnering with South Korean data scientists to help improve bus journey times and connectivity in the Liverpool City Region. 🌐🚌 Researchers will create a ‘digital twin’ (digital replica) of the city region’s transport system to accurately model the effects of different scenarios – such as route changes and fare reductions – to provide a better service for the local community, reduce journey times and ultimately encourage more residents to take the bus. This collaboration builds on strong links with South Korea’s second city that last year saw Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-Joon to promote active co-operation in areas relating to digital innovation and smart cities, net zero and clean energy and health innovation. Steve Rotheram said: “My vision has always been to provide faster, cheaper, safer and more reliable journeys for people travelling across the Liverpool City Region. We’re already starting to turn that vision into reality." Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gj2dZAdh
This hi-tech collaboration with South Korea is a fantastic step forward for Liverpool City Region's bus services! Creating a digital twin of the transport system is an innovative approach to tackling issues like route optimization and fare adjustments. By leveraging real-time data and advanced modelling techniques, this project promises to enhance connectivity, reduce journey times, and make bus travel more appealing to residents. It's great to see such international cooperation in action, building on the existing relationship with Busan and pushing towards smarter, more equitable urban mobility. Exciting times ahead for Liverpool's public transport!
The big mistake in Liverpool was getting rid of the trams. The trams carried 84 seated and 16 standing, and did 60mph on their reserved tracks.
