It is great to see Britvic continue to progress against our strategic priorities in our Q3 trading statement released yesterday, as consumer demand continues to thrive ahead of our key summer trading period. In Great Britain, we saw revenue grow 10.1% which is a strong result. Enduring, great quality brands, combined with volume growth in retail and hospitality, has contributed to our robust performance for the quarter. We also announced two exciting acquisitions to join our already impressive portfolio of quality brands. The first is Jimmy’s Iced Coffee in Great Britain. This is another major consumer brand in a high potential market that is seeing significant growth, of which Jimmy’s Iced Coffee is the fastest growing brand in the segment. The second is energy drink brand Extra Power in Brazil as we extend our brand portfolio and regional footprint in the area. With these encouraging results, our full year revenue and report is on track to be within current market expectations, supported by our portfolio of leading family favourite brands and accelerated growth strategy. Thr Effect of Rheum ribes Root (Rhubarb) on Menopausal Hot Flashes: A Randomized Double-Blind, Study-Iran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. Abstract Background and objectives: Hot flashes are one of the most predominant complaints of menopause among women. The main treatment is hormone replacement therapy, which has side effects. Therefore, the use of plants with phytoestrogen has been suggested as an adjunctive treatment. This study aimed to estimate the efficacy of processed rhubarb (Rheum ribes L.) on hot flashes in postmenopausal women. Methods: This double-blind placebo-controlled trial was performed on postmenopausal women who were referred to public health centers at Iran University of Medical Sciences. Ninety postmenopausal women aged over 45 years with menopausal hot flashes were randomly assigned to two groups. The treatment group received 500 mg of encapsulated processed R. ribes twice a day for eight weeks, and the control group received placebo (starch powder) in the same manner. Data were collected using Blatt–Kupperman index at the start of the study, fourth and eighth weeks after the intervention. Descriptive and analytic statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: A total of 74 patients completed the study (39 participants in the intervention group and 35 in the control group). The results showed that R. ribes significantly decreased the mean of flashing in Blatt–Kupperman index four and eight weeks post-intervention (p<0.001). Rheum ribes showed no serious adverse effects. Conclusion: The findings of this study propose that treatment with R. ribes may be considered an adjunctive treatment for hot flashes in postmenopausal women.

Baker McKenzie Switzerland advised Lalique Group SA on the acquisition of a 75% stake in the preeminent wine estate Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey for a purchase price of EUR 18 million. With this acquisition, Lalique will further develop synergies with the crystal and hospitality business. Meanwhile, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey will benefit from increased visibility and will be able to raise its profile with existing and new target groups.
