For humanity to progress, everyone must be counted, no matter where they are or who they are. Yet, for millions —the world’s most vulnerable among them— this right continues to go unrealized. On Thursday’s World Population Day, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) explains why inclusive data-collection processes are more important than ever, ensuring that everyone is counted in all their diversity. https://lnkd.in/e7v74zWH

United Nations, Ensuring everyone is counted is not just about numbers; it’s about recognizing every person’s story and worth. The United Nations' call for inclusive data collection speaks volumes: it empowers us with insights to measure progress, guides governments in making fair decisions, reveals who needs help the most, and holds leaders accountable ethically. This isn’t just data; it’s a lifeline for those often overlooked, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs addressed. Let's embrace this mission to leave no one behind, bridging gaps and building a world where every individual counts, contributing to a brighter, more equitable future for all.

As we commemorate World Population Day, it is crucial to spotlight inclusive data-collection processes. The lack of accurate, comprehensive data on vulnerable populations hinders addressing socioeconomic inequities and sustainable development goals. Millions remain uncounted, making it challenging to target initiatives and allocate resources equitably, exacerbating disparities and perpetuating exclusion.  To improve data accessibility and quality, an inclusive, community-led approach is essential to reduce biases in traditional data-gathering methods. Moreover, integrating qualitative narratives with quantitative data provides a clearer picture of socioeconomic realities, guiding informed policymaking. However, collecting data is just the first step; translating it into sustainable actions requires collaboration among stakeholders from grassroots organizations to government agencies to ensure data-driven insights inform policy and resource allocation.
