The #ClimateCrisis weighs most heavily on the vulnerable, including people with low incomes, women, and Indigenous peoples. Unless humanity reverses course on the environmental havoc it is causing, it will be impossible to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. From 8 to 17 July, United Nations Member States are meeting in New York for the High-Level Political Forum which looks at the latest progress on multiple goals, including the 5 featured here. Addressing the climate crisis is crucial not only for environmental sustainability but also for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Goals such as zero hunger, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, and climate action are interconnected and rely on a stable and healthy environment. Without mitigating climate change, progress towards these goals becomes severely compromised, especially for the most vulnerable communities who are least equipped to cope with its impacts.

The first thing required is to promote limiting of family size. The last thing a woman in poverty with three children needs, is five more children.

I applaud the Un initiative. Its time to tackle the issue of eco justice, to address environmental injustice. Too many communities around the globe are affected by this.
